We completely reject passive child-minding in favour of an active, inquiry-based curriculum organized into six daily learning stations, including STEM, Science, Art, Gardening, Sensory play, and a Drama/Homework hub. The Opportunity:We are looking for an experienced, passionate, and entrepreneurial RECE Supervisor to help launch our brand-new facility. This is a rare opportunity to put your own creative stamp on a child care centre from day one. You will work side-by-side with the owner to design a unique physical space, choose premium learning materials, and develop custom, theme-based lesson plans that spark children's curiosity.
You will lead and mentor a small, dedicated team of two teachers, managing a cozy, capped cohort of 28 children maximum.
Core Responsibilities:
- Collaborate directly with the owner to set up the new physical classroom space, configure the 6 daily learning stations, and establish weekly thematic lesson plans (e.g., dinosaurs, space exploration, water cycles).
- Manage daily operations, staff scheduling,
and active ratio compliance for a team of 2 teachers and a maximum of 28 children.
- Oversee safe arrival, dismissal, and school transition escort logs for local partner schools.
- Ensure absolute compliance with the Child Care and Early Years Act, 2014 (CCEYA), Ontario Regulation 137/15, Toronto Public Health guidelines, and fire safety codes.
- Foster strong partnerships with families through regular daily updates, digital check-ins, and photo sharing via the Lillio app.
- Maintain accurate administrative records, including the permanent daily written record log, child health folders, immunization records, and medication administration sheets.
Qualifications & Requirements:
- Must be a Registered Early Childhood Educator (RECE) in good standing with the College of Early Childhood Educators (CECE).
- A minimum of 6 years of experience working in licensed early childhood or school-age child care environments.
- Proven experience in a management or supervisory role, with a deep understanding of Ministry of Education licensing inspections and the Child Care Licensing System (CCLS).
- Thorough operational knowledge of Ontario’s How Does Learning Happen? pedagogical framework.
- A clear Police Vulnerable Sector Check (VSC) prepared within the last 6 months.
- Valid Standard First Aid and CPR-C certification.
- Strong communication skills, a warm and collaborative leadership style, and an interest in hands-on STEM and outdoor gardening pedagogy.
