Recreation Therapist

Location: Prince George, BC

Position Summary The Recreation Therapist provides therapeutic recreation services to residents in a long-term care setting. The position promotes residents’ quality of life, independence, social engagement, emotional well-being, and meaningful participation through individualized and group recreation programs.

Key Responsibilities

- Assess residents’ interests, abilities, needs, preferences, and goals.
- Develop, implement, and evaluate individualized recreation therapy care plans.
- Provide individual and group therapeutic recreation programs, including physical activity, music, arts and crafts, games, reminiscence, cognitive stimulation, and social activities.
- Adapt programs for residents with dementia, mobility limitations, cognitive impairment, and other complex care needs.
- Promote resident choice, dignity, independence, inclusion, and meaningful engagement.
- Collaborate with nursing, rehabilitation, social work, families, volunteers, and other interdisciplinary team members.




- Participate in care conferences and communicate changes in residents’ needs or functioning.
- Maintain accurate and timely assessments, care plans, progress notes, and other clinical documentation.
- Follow organizational policies related to resident safety, infection prevention, privacy, and risk management.
- Participate in quality improvement, program evaluation, education, and student/volunteer supervision as required.

Qualifications
- Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Therapeutic Recreation, Recreation Therapy, or a related field.
- Experience in long-term care, geriatrics, dementia care, or health care is preferred.
- Current First Aid and CPR certification.
- Solid communication, interpersonal, organizational, and teamwork skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of an interdisciplinary team.

Pay: $22.00-$24.00 per hour
