About Us

Seven Generations Living is an Indigenous-led independent living program supporting youth ages 16–18 as they move toward independence. Our work is grounded in Indigenous values, culture, connection, and the belief that every young person carries their own strengths and gifts.

Position Overview

We are looking for a caring, dependable, and culturally aware Recreation Worker to plan activities and outings with youth in our independent living program.

The Recreation Worker will build positive relationships with youth, learn their interests, and provide opportunities to have fun, try new things, connect with culture and community, and develop healthy ways to spend their free time.

Responsibilities

- Plan and organize activities and community outings.
- Transport and accompany youth to activities.
- Involve youth in choosing and planning activities based on their interests.
- Plan activities such as sports, arts and crafts, cooking, outdoor recreation, community events, cultural activities, and land-based activities.
- Find free or low-cost activities within the community.
- Support cultural connections and Indigenous activities when youth are interested.
- Maintain appropriate supervision and ensure youth safety during outings.




- Build positive relationships while maintaining professional boundaries.
- Communicate concerns or incidents to Seven Generations Living staff and management.

Qualifications
- Experience working with youth, recreation, community programs, or Indigenous organizations is an asset.
- Understanding of trauma-informed care and cultural safety.
- Patient, dependable, respectful, and able to build positive relationships with youth.
- Knowledge of Indigenous culture and community, or a willingness to learn.
- Able to plan activities independently and work flexible hours.
- Valid driver's licence and reliable vehicle.
- Current First Aid/CPR.
- Required background and child/adult abuse registry checks.

Contract Position

This is a contract position. Hours will vary depending on youth needs and planned activities and may include evenings, weekends, and school breaks.

Pay: $23.00-$25.00 per hour
