Regional Operations Director – Retirement Living

Reports to: Comfort of Living Head Office – Oakville, ON

Comfort of Living is seeking an experienced Regional Operations Director – Retirement Living to provide senior operational leadership for a retirement residence in Old Ottawa East.

This hands-on role is ideal for an experienced retirement living or long-term care leader with a strong background in operations, occupancy, resident experience, compliance, financial performance and team leadership.

The successful candidate will report directly to Head Office, work closely with the onsite leadership team, and be accountable for keeping the residence operationally strong while maintaining and growing occupancy.

Key Responsibilities

- Oversee overall residence operations and day-to-day performance
- Maintain a strong focus on occupancy, tours, move-ins and resident retention
- Work closely with sales and marketing to support occupancy goals
- Support and mentor onsite managers and department leaders
- Monitor staffing, resident services, dining, housekeeping, maintenance and operational readiness
- Ensure compliance with RHRA requirements and applicable Ontario regulations
- Build strong relationships with residents, families and community referral partners
- Monitor budgets, expenses and key operational performance indicators
- Report regularly to Comfort of Living Head Office

Financial & Operational Performance

- Monitor residence operating performance and key performance indicators
- Support budgeting, forecasting and expense management
- Monitor staffing levels, scheduling and labour utilization
- Work with Head Office on vendor relationships, purchasing and operational efficiencies




- Identify opportunities to improve revenue and control expenses
- Ensure residence operations remain aligned with approved budgets and organizational expectations

Team Leadership

- Coach, mentor and support department managers and onsite leadership
- Promote accountability, teamwork and professional standards
- Support recruitment and retention of strong team members
- Address performance concerns in collaboration with Human Resources
- Identify training and development opportunities
- Help foster a positive workplace culture focused on resident service and operational excellence

Qualifications

- 7+ years of senior leadership experience in retirement living, LTC or seniors’ healthcare
- Previous experience as an Executive Director, General Manager, Regional Director, Director of Operations or similar role
- Strong knowledge of retirement residence operations, occupancy and resident retention
- Experience with staffing, compliance, budgets and operational performance
- Robust leadership, communication and problem-solving skills
- Ottawa-area candidates strongly preferred
- French-English bilingualism is an asset
- Experience with transitions or acquisitions is an asset

Orientation The successful candidate will complete approximately two weeks of onboarding at Comfort of Living’s Head Office in Oakville, Ontario, followed by a permanent site-based role in Ottawa.
