Job Overview
Join our energetic dental team at Rabbit Hill Family Dentistry as a Registered Dental Hygienist (RHA) in an evening and every other Saturday. Your expertise, energy, and passion for patient care will help create a positive, welcoming, and professional experience for every patient. In this important role, you will provide comprehensive preventive dental hygiene services, assess patients’ oral health, educate them on effective home-care practices, and work closely with the dental team to support excellent long-term oral health outcomes.
This paid position is ideal for a hygienist who enjoys a versatile schedule and is available to work evenings and weekends. You’ll have the opportunity to grow your clinical skills in a supportive, collaborative, and fast-paced dental environment while building strong, lasting relationships with patients.
Duties
- Provide comprehensive dental hygiene services, including scaling, polishing, fluoride treatments, and preventive care
- Perform thorough periodontal assessments and charting, identifying areas of concern and communicating findings with the dentist
- Take dental radiographs (X-rays) as required while following appropriate radiation safety and infection control protocols
- Educate patients of all ages on proper brushing, flossing, nutrition, and individualized oral hygiene practices
- Develop personalized hygiene treatment plans and provide recommendations based on each patient’s oral health needs
- Monitor periodontal health and recognize signs of gingivitis, periodontitis, caries, and other oral health concerns
- Maintain accurate and detailed patient records, including periodontal charting, treatment notes, radiographs, and patient education
- Work closely with dentists and other team members to coordinate comprehensive patient care and treatment
- Provide a calm, positive, and comfortable experience for patients, including children, anxious patients, and individuals with special needs
- Maintain high standards of sterilization, infection prevention, operatory preparation, and clinical safety
- Stay current with dental hygiene techniques, preventive care recommendations, and professional standards
- Build lasting relationships with patients while encouraging regular hygiene visits and ongoing preventive care
Skills
- Strong clinical skills in dental hygiene, including scaling, root surface debridement, polishing, fluoride application, and periodontal assessment
- Thorough understanding of oral anatomy, periodontics, infection prevention, and dental terminology
- Ability to confidently assess and document periodontal conditions and communicate findings to the dentist
- Strong patient education and communication skills with the ability to explain treatment and oral health recommendations in an approachable manner
- Comfortable working with patients of all ages, including pediatrics, anxious patients, and special needs patients
- Experience with dental practice management software such as Dentrix or similar systems for charting, scheduling, and patient records
- Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to maintain an efficient hygiene schedule
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with dentists and the broader dental team
- Professional, compassionate, and personable approach to patient care
- Commitment to maintaining high standards of clinical care, sterilization, safety, and professionalism
- Previous experience in a dental hygiene setting is an asset
