About Inquisitem Early Learning Centre
Inquisitem Early Learning Centre is a newly established, STEM-focused early learning program in Burlington, Ontario. We provide a play-based, inquiry-driven environment where children are encouraged to explore, ask questions, experiment, and develop a lifelong love of learning.
We are looking for a passionate and enthusiastic Registered Early Childhood Educator (RECE) to join our growing team. This is an exciting opportunity to become part of a new centre and contribute to the development of a high-quality early learning program from the beginning.
Position Overview The RECE will work directly with children and collaborate with the team to provide a safe, nurturing, engaging, and developmentally appropriate learning environment.
The successful candidate will have a genuine interest in early childhood education and enjoy creating hands-on learning experiences, particularly those incorporating STEM concepts through play, exploration, and inquiry.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and implement developmentally appropriate, play-based learning experiences with a strong STEM focus
- Develop and support daily activities that encourage curiosity, creativity, problem-solving, exploration, and discovery
- Prepare and organize the classroom, learning materials, and activity areas before and throughout the day
- Create engaging invitations to play and hands-on learning opportunities
- Support children's learning and development through observation, interaction, questioning, and responsive guidance
- Participate in daily routines, including arrival, transitions, meals/snacks, rest periods, outdoor play, and departures
- Provide diapering and toileting support and assist children with personal care as required
- Support children in developing independence and self-help skills
- Maintain a clean, organized, safe, and welcoming classroom environment
- Assist with classroom cleaning, sanitizing, and resetting learning areas
- Supervise children at all times and follow appropriate health and safety practices
- Support outdoor programming and facilitate meaningful learning experiences outdoors
- Build positive, respectful relationships with children, families, and colleagues
- Communicate observations and relevant information about children's experiences and well-being with the team
- Follow Inquisitem's program statement, policies, procedures, and Ministry of Education requirements
- Participate in team collaboration, meetings, professional development, and ongoing program planning
- Contribute ideas and feedback to help strengthen and grow the centre's programming
Qualifications & Requirements The successful candidate will have:
- Registration in good standing with the College of Early Childhood Educators (CECE)
- ECE diploma or equivalent recognized qualification
- Experience working with young children in a licensed child care setting is preferred
- Solid understanding of play-based and child-centred learning
- Interest in STEM, inquiry-based learning, and hands-on exploration
- Knowledge of the Child Care and Early Years Act (CCEYA) and Ministry of Education requirements
- Valid Standard First Aid and CPR Level C
- Vulnerable Sector Check as required
- Required health and immunization documentation in accordance with applicable requirements
- Strong communication, teamwork,
and organizational skills
- A warm, patient, responsive, and enthusiastic approach to working with young children
Compensation & Time Off
- $21–$24/hour, based on experience and qualifications
- Part time schedule of 12 hours per week (Monday, Wednesday and Friday, 9:00 AM–1:00 PM)
- Three weeks of centre closure/vacation aligned with the HDSB school calendar:
- Winter Break: December 21, 2026–January 1, 2027
- March Break: March 15–19, 2027
- Statutory holiday entitlements in accordance with the Ontario Employment Standards Act, 2000, including the applicable 10 statutory holidays
- Opportunities for additional hours as enrolment grows
- Potential opportunity to transition to a full-time position as the centre expands
