WHAT IT’S LIKE TO WORK AT CHOICE At Choice, the connection between team members is part of the day-to-day experience.

Between patients, you’ll often find people catching up in the staff room, asking each other clinical questions, sharing stories, and laughing together. Many of our clinicians become genuine friends, and some spend time together outside of work too.

We stay connected through our team Slack, monthly staff meetings, and regular staff events.

We intentionally look for people who want to be part of that kind of workplace: friendly, easy-going, collaborative, open to learning, and serious about providing excellent care.

Choice is locally owned and built by healthcare practitioners for healthcare practitioners. We’ve grown enough to offer the systems, support, stability, and career opportunities you’d expect from a larger organization, while still keeping the accessibility, relationships, and influence that people value in a smaller company.

Our leaders are close to the work, your ideas can shape how we grow, and as Choice expands, we intend to keep creating meaningful leadership and partnership opportunities for healthcare professionals.

COLLABORATION IS PART OF WHAT MAKES CHOICE DIFFERENT

Collaboration here is more than having several professions under one roof.

Our mission is to help every Nova Scotian thrive, and in helping our patients reach their goals, we know many can benefit from having more than one healthcare professional involved in their care.

Our Bedford team includes physiotherapists, chiropractors, massage therapists, an osteopath, an acupuncturist, a naturopath, and other health professionals. Clinicians regularly ask one another questions, discuss cases, and refer to each other when another perspective or service could benefit the patient.

We come together for monthly clinical rounds to learn from one another and discuss clinical topics and cases. We also hold Choice Celebrations to recognize meaningful patient milestones together.

Collaboration never means giving up your clinical independence.

You maintain full autonomy over your own clinical decisions, assessments, and treatment plans.

THE PRACTICE YOU’RE STEPPING INTO

You won’t be starting from scratch.

You’ll be building within an established centre with ongoing new-patient demand, community marketing support, and a team actively invested in helping you build and maintain a healthy caseload.

Our patient pathway, "Discover. Collaborate. Thrive." is the clinical standard that guides how we care for patients across Choice. It helps us create a consistent, elevated patient experience across our services and locations and sets a shared standard for how we support patients throughout their care.

Appointments are one-on-one in private treatment rooms, with the option to use our rehab space, including a squat rack, treadmill, bike, and other rehabilitation equipment. Most of our physiotherapists choose 60-minute initial assessments and 30-minute follow-up appointments, giving them time to properly assess, educate, and treat their patients. Appointment lengths can also be adjusted to support your clinical approach.

Our goal is to help you build a busy, rewarding practice without feeling like you have to do it alone.

SUPPORT WHEN YOU NEED IT

Starting somewhere new takes time, so your first week at Choice is a paid onboarding week without patients. It gives you time to get comfortable in the centre, learn our systems and patient pathway, meet the team, and settle into the space before your caseload begins.

From there, every clinician has a Clinical Lead and a monthly 1:1 coaching / check-in session. Our Centre Directors are also accessible, so support is built into the way we work rather than saved for formal reviews.

As your practice grows, we stay involved. If you have goals to grow your caseload further, we’ll work with you to understand what will help you get there. If there’s an opportunity to help patients better understand their care plan, follow through on appropriate recommendations, and stay engaged in their recovery, we’ll coach and support you. If the bigger need is simply more new patients, we’ll increase our marketing efforts.

And if you’re feeling overwhelmed, we’ll meet with you to understand what’s happening and figure out what support would actually help.

New Graduate? Your first private-practice role shouldn’t mean being handed a schedule and expected to figure everything out yourself. For your first year at Choice, we pair you with a senior clinician for structured mentorship. You’ll meet weekly to start, with the frequency gradually reducing as you gain confidence, build your caseload, and become more independent in practice.

You’ll also continue to have your monthly Clinical Lead check-ins and day-to-day access to experienced practitioners when questions come up.

BUILD A CAREER, NOT JUST A CASELOAD

We’re looking for clinicians who want somewhere they can grow.

Some physiotherapists want to become exceptional generalists. Others want to develop advanced skills or a clinical niche, become educators or mentors, get involved in the business, move into leadership, or eventually explore equity partnership opportunities at Choice.

Our clinician career pathways are designed to support those different ambitions, including:

- Advanced clinician development
- Niche and specialty practice development
- Mentorship opportunities
- Clinical and centre leadership
- Potential future ownership opportunities

We want to understand where you want your career to go and help you work toward it.

THRIVE WITH CHOICE

- Are open to feedback, coaching, and continued learning
- Like collaborating with other healthcare professionals and take a holistic approach to care
- Are comfortable educating patients about their care and appropriate next steps

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR

- Registered and licensed, or eligible for registration and licensure, with the Nova Scotia Regulator of Physiotherapy (NSRPT)
- Maintains all required professional liability insurance, certifications, and continuing education
- Strong clinical knowledge, judgment, and evidence-informed decision-making
- Strong communication, empathy, and emotional intelligence
- A collaborative, team-based approach to care
- Reliable, adaptable, accountable, and committed to continuous improvement
- Alignment with the Choice Health Centre Mission and Values

Experienced physiotherapists and new graduates are both encouraged to apply. HOW TO APPLY & WHAT TO EXPECT

Apply through Indeed with your resume. Cover letters are welcomed, but not required.

Our hiring process is straightforward:

Application review: We’re interviewing on a rolling basis and aim to review all applications within 1–2 business days. If we see a potential fit, we’ll reach out promptly to schedule an initial conversation.

Initial conversation / interview: We’ll meet virtually or in person to get to know each other, learn what you’re looking for, and see whether the opportunity feels like a good fit.

Practical interview: If the initial conversation goes well, we’ll schedule a practical so we can better understand your clinical approach and you can get a feel for how we work. If an in-person practical isn’t possible because you’re still in school or living outside Nova Scotia, we can arrange a virtual practical instead.

Job offer: If we both feel it’s the right fit after the practical interview, we’ll present a job offer and walk through the key terms together. This is where we’ll answer any remaining questions and work through details such as compensation, schedule, and anticipated start date.

Contract: Once the initial offer terms are agreed upon, we’ll prepare and send the employment contract for your review and signature.

Job accepted: Once the contract is signed, we’ll confirm your start date and schedule your paid onboarding week so you know what to expect before your first patient day.

We aim to move through the interview and offer process within 1–2 weeks, while giving you the time you need to make the right decision.
