Research Associate Opportunity (Six-Month Term, Renewable)

Applications are invited for a full-time, six-month (renewable) Research Associate position with RESOLVE Manitoba, located at the University of Manitoba. The anticipated start date is October 1, 2026.

The successful applicant will have completed, or be nearing completion of, a Ph.D in social work, psychology, community health or a related discipline. and possess a strong understanding of research related to family and gender-based violence and/or child maltreatment. This is an exciting opportunity for an emerging scholar to play a leadership role in developing a competitive program of externally funded research while contributing to high-impact cooperative projects.

A primary responsibility of the position will be the development of competitive research grant applications to provincial, national, and international funding agencies. The successful candidate will work closely with the Director and research staff to identify funding opportunities, coordinate multidisciplinary grant teams, prepare compelling proposals, and contribute to building RESOLVE Manitoba's research portfolio.

The Research

Associate will also coordinate and manage research projects; prepare and submit ethics applications; conduct high-quality literature reviews; analyze and interpret quantitative and qualitative data; disseminate findings through scholarly publications, conference presentations, reports, and knowledge mobilization activities; provide research consultation to community organizations, faculty, and other partners; and supervise research assistants and students.

Experience conducting research related to violence against Indigenous women, girls, and Two-Spirit people or Indigenous communities is considered an asset.

RESOLVE Manitoba is a gender-based violence research centre and collaborative network of researchers,



community organizations, service providers, and policymakers. Through university-community partnerships, the Centre conducts policy- and practice-relevant research on family and gender-based violence, builds research capacity through education and mentorship, and mobilizes research findings to inform policy and practice. Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. The successful candidate will work under the direction of Dr. Kendra Nixon, Director of RESOLVE Manitoba.
