TITLE: Resident Care Manager STATUS: 1.0 FTE – Permanent
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Resident Care Manager, reporting to the Director, Health Services or Director, Housing and Lodges is accountable for the effective management of resident care including the management of human, material and financial resources. The essential components of this position are administration, clinical practice, supervision and staff development. The Manager is expected to provide leadership in providing quality resident care and utilization of the resources of the interdisciplinary team.
Essential to this leadership role is the use of effective leadership skills in interactions with the residents, families,
staff and other health care team members. The Resident Care Manager provides direction to all clinical nursing staff assigned to their area of responsibility.
QUALIFICATIONS:
(Education; Experience/Training; Knowledge; Licenses/Certificates; Membership Requirements)
- Diploma/degree in an applied health services discipline, nursing preferred.
- Current registration with professional college/regulatory body
- Master’s degree in Health Services Administration or related studies an asset (Equivalencies will be considered)
- CPR required
- Experience in demonstrating progressive leadership with management or supervisory experience
- Demonstrates effective communication with solid organizational skills, person-centered care focus, and
commitment to quality services
- A commitment to continuous professional development, self-directed and motivated
- Related experience (minimum of five years) in Continuing Care and/or Mental Health setting an asset
- Course or certificate in gerontology an asset
- Certificate in Mental Health an asset
REQUIREMENTS:
- Deals with concerns relating to human resources, financial, budgetary, service and program issues
- Implements change and evaluates outcomes
- Maintains current knowledge of health services research, delivery, trends and issues
- Maintains processes and systems to meet continuing care health service standards, accommodation standards and
accreditation standards
- Knowledgeable of collective agreements and labour relations practices and issues
- Prepares reports, presentations, proposals and other written communication
