You take pride in doing things right, have a sharp eye for detail, and enjoy understanding how things work. You’re comfortable around heavy equipment, working on your feet, and travelling when needed. You learn quickly, work well independently and as part of a team, and want a company that invests in your training, trusts your judgment, and rewards your hard work.
At Continental Chain & Rigging, you'll be part of a team responsible for keeping rigging equipment safe and certified for customers across Alberta - work that keeps industrial and construction sites running safely.
We're looking for a Rigging Inspector to join our team, with regular travel to customer sites primarily in Edmonton and Fort McMurray.
What you'll do
- Inspect customer rigging equipment including web slings, round slings, wire rope slings, chain slings, shackles, plate clamps, and fall protection, both in-house and on-site, in accordance with ASME standards
- Identify incoming equipment by reading work orders, conduct visual inspections, and independently determine whether items pass, fail, or require repair
- Approve and issue certifications based on inspection findings
- Record all inspection results and documentation through the TESSALink app on an iPad
- Identify common defects and damage, such as snaps and tears in synthetic materials, stretched components on chain slings and wire rope, and weld slag or heat damage
- Assist with light repair and tagging of inspected items when turnaround time requires it
- Travel to customer sites throughout Alberta, primarily in Edmonton and Fort McMurray, including overnight trips (overnight premium paid); on-site work is completed alongside another team member
- Interact directly with customers while on-site; in-shop customer contact is minimal
- Use measuring tools such as tape measures and calipers to support inspection accuracy
What you'll bring
- Minimum 1 year of experience in inspection, rigging, quality control, or a related mechanical/industrial environment is preferred
- Ability to travel out of town, including overnight, and to pass a pre-access drug and alcohol (D/A) test
- Solid attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy, especially when determining pass/fail outcomes
- A quick learner who's comfortable receiving hands-on, in-house training - no rigging-specific certification is required to start
- Reliable and punctual, with a strong sense of accountability
- Comfortable working independently in the shop and collaboratively on-site
- Physically able to lift and move items 50 lbs
- Comfortable using tablets and inspection software (training provided on TESSALink)
- Legally entitled to work in Canada
