SUMMARY

BHE Canada is seeking a Risk Management Analyst to support middle-office credit, risk management, and trade control activities for its energy trading business, AlbertaEx. This role will support the trade lifecycle by reviewing trade and credit data, monitoring exposures and positions, developing analytical tools, providing daily and weekly financial reporting, supporting counterparty onboarding and reviews, and strengthening processes and internal controls as AlbertaEx’s commercial operations continue to grow.

Responsibilities:

- Develop and maintain analytics and data inputs to support middle-office risk metrics, including value-at-risk, potential future exposure, counterparty exposure, and expected credit loss analysis:
- Source, validate, and maintain market data, including forward curves, volatilities, and correlations required for risk measurement and exposure reporting
- Support development of credit exposure and expected credit loss analysis for load-serving and wholesale trading activity
- Contribute to data management, reporting, and potential data warehouse development to improve accuracy, scalability, and auditability
- Provide daily and weekly financial reporting on gross margin revenue and average price per MWh price spread captured
- Support Energy Trading and Risk Management (“ETRM”) system and reporting enhancements across trade capture,



position monitoring, exposure reporting, and mark-to-market functionality, including data validation and control design as AlbertaEx’s trading activity grows in volume, tenor, and complexity
- Manage and enhance Azure-hosted databases that support power trading models, automated workflows, operational reporting, and reliable data for commercial decision-making
- Identify and implement process improvements and automation opportunities to improve trade review, settlements support, documentation, and reporting:
- Support development of AI-assisted and automated tools used in trade settlements, data review, and document analysis
- Improve accuracy and consistency of trade data, transcription outputs, and supporting documentation
- Summarize key commercial terms from agreements, confirmations, and related trading documentation
- Reconcile summarized commercial terms to trade data exports to support completeness, accuracy, and control objectives
- Prepare and support regulatory reporting, including Canada Energy Regulator, Energy Information Administration, Federal Energy Regulatory Commission, and other energy trading reporting requirements
- Support counterparty onboarding, credit reviews, and enabling activities for load customers and wholesale counterparties, including data gathering, exposure analysis, and documentation
- Develop market analysis, reporting, and forecasting tools to support trading decisions and explain changing conditions across North American power markets, including supply and demand fundamentals, price trends, and portfolio impacts.

Qualifications:

- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Economics, Computer Science, Mathematics, Engineering, or a related field
- Strong technical aptitude, including experience with data querying, data management, automation, and analytical tools such as Python, SQL, Excel, or VBA
- Familiarity with Copilot and the application of AI systems to review routine tasks, identify efficiency opportunities, and develop standardized and automated processes




- Strong quantitative, analytical, and spreadsheet modelling skills, with the ability to interpret complex datasets and produce clear, reliable outputs
- Familiarity with wholesale power markets, energy trading, ETRM systems, or Alberta and Pacific Northwest markets would be an asset
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced trading environment while managing multiple priorities, deadlines, and stakeholders
- Clear communication and presentation skills, including the ability to summarize technical or commercial information for business users
- Curiosity and initiative to learn complex, evolving energy markets and contribute to a growing commercial operation
- Proven track record of strong performance, reliability, and attention to detail
