Overview / Responsibilities

Wood Operations team performs consulting and EPC services for Atlantic Canada’s Onshore/Offshore projects. Wood is looking for a Robotics Technical Specialist to join their team in St. Johns, Newfoundland office, to support an exciting new project using the latest robotics technology to reduce carbon emissions and enhance safety for our client.

The Robotics Technical Specialist will be responsible for the integration and maintenance of sensors with the robots and drones. Depending on experience level, responsibilities will include, but not be limited to:

Work with clients to understand their needs, define robot/drone routes, required sensors and inspection intervals, etc.

- Assemble and test new robots received from vendors.
- Install robots, robot garages, GPS, edge computers and satellite dishes on customer sites.
- Investigate new sensors and integrate onto robots/drones; work with robot vendors to ensure seamless integration.
- Monitor robot patrols, data processing and connectivity.
- Work with the software developers to improve automation of the workflow and develop tools to reduce bottlenecks

Skills / Qualifications

- Hands-on experience with robots, drones and sensors.
- Experience with Linux,



especially with system administration, computer networks and ROS.
- BSc/MSc in Engineering, Computer Science, Math, Physics, or related discipline.
- Good oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to work in a multi-disciplinary team.
- 5+ years’ experience or a demonstrated self-starter able to learn quickly and work independently.
