SCR Mining and Tunnelling is currently seeking an experienced, safety-focused Safety, Health & Training Supervisor to join our underground mining operations team near Bissett, Manitoba.
The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting and overseeing site safety, health, and training programs while working closely with site leadership and employees to promote a strong safety culture and ensure compliance with company standards and applicable regulatory requirements.
There is only one existing vacancy for this position.

This position is for employment in Bissett, Manitoba. Camp accommodation & meals provided.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
As a Safety, Health & Training Supervisor, you will:
- Administer and monitor all aspects of the Health and Safety Program at the assigned remote project site.
- Provide visible field leadership and support the Project Management Team, employees, and subcontractors in achieving zero harm.
- Inspect and audit underground and surface work areas for compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act, applicable regulations, SCR requirements, and client site standards.
- Perform field observations to verify that safety policies, procedures, risk controls, and programs are understood, implemented, and followed.
- Identify training needs with the Project Management Team and develop practical action plans for the site and rotation.
- Deliver individual and group training, including site-specific underground orientation and refresher training where applicable.
- Maintain accurate training records for employees and subcontractors and periodically review upcoming or expired training requirements.
- Develop and update policies, procedures, safe work practices, and risk assessments as required.
- Conduct safety and training audits, recognize strong compliance, and address deficiencies with site leadership and the Safety, Health & Training Manager.
- Monitor safety documentation, review program analytics and performance, and support Stop Work and Work Refusal situations.
- Perform accident and incident investigations, prepare comprehensive reports, and coordinate required follow-up actions.
- Assist with workplace injury claims, Early and Protected Return to Work Programs, and support for injured workers when required.
- Assist with daily safety talks, monthly safety meetings, Field Level Hazard Assessments, and Joint Health and Safety Committee activities.
- Facilitate, coordinate, and/or deliver required training, including equipment-specific training, in-house competency and company training programs, and third-party certification courses such as Basics of Fall Protection/Fall Arrest, WHMIS, Confined Space, and other training required by legislation, client standards, or SCR policies and procedures.
Qualifications
Essential qualifications include
- High school diploma or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Successful completion of a Train the Trainer program.
- Minimum five (5) years of related experience with advanced knowledge of the mining industry and the Occupational Health and Safety Act.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, coaching, leadership, and conflict-resolution skills.
- Ability to manage sensitive and confidential information with discretion.
- Ability to prioritize, multi-task, and organize workload with limited day-to-day supervision.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, regulations, policies, and procedures used in construction and mining.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Valid driver's license/permit.
Preferred qualifications include:
- College diploma or university degree in a related field.
- Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP) certification.
Compensation The compensation range for the position is competitive and based on experience. Hourly wages are between $47.50 and $62.50.
