Position Summary

Spearhead Smoke Shop is seeking reliable, professional and customer-focused Cashier / Sales Associates to join our team.

The Cashier / Sales Associate is responsible for providing efficient customer service, accurately processing transactions, maintaining product knowledge, stocking merchandise and helping keep the store clean, organized and ready for business.

This position requires someone who can work independently and responsibly. At times, an employee may be responsible for operating the sales floor and cash register without another employee scheduled alongside them.

Primary Responsibilities

- Greet customers and provide friendly, efficient service.
- Operate the Square point-of-sale system and accurately process cash, debit and credit transactions.
- Maintain accurate cash handling and ensure the register balances.
- Assist customers with products, pricing and promotions.
- Develop strong knowledge of products carried by Spearhead Smoke Shop.
- Verify customer identification and follow all applicable age-restriction requirements.
- Restock shelves, coolers, displays and other merchandise as required.
- Monitor inventory levels and notify management when products are running low.
- Receive and organize merchandise when required.
- Keep counters, floors, displays, entrances and customer areas clean and organized.
- Remove garbage and complete routine cleaning duties throughout the shift.
- Maintain attractive, properly stocked product displays.
- Follow opening and closing procedures when assigned.
- Complete end-of-shift cash and sales procedures accurately.
- Protect company merchandise, cash and property.
- Watch for suspicious activity, theft or other security concerns and report incidents to management.
- Follow all store policies, procedures and management direction.




- Complete other reasonable duties required for the operation of the store.

Customer Service Expectations Employees are expected to be welcoming, respectful and professional with every customer.

Customer service should be prompt and attentive without being pushy. Employees should be able to answer questions, explain promotions and help customers find products while keeping checkout lines moving efficiently.

Personal cellphone use must not interfere with customer service or assigned responsibilities.

Cash Handling & Accountability

Because employees may work independently, strong cash-handling practices are essential.

Employees are responsible for

- Accurately entering every transaction into the POS system.
- Providing correct change.
- Following established procedures for discounts and promotions.
- Maintaining control of their assigned cash register.
- Reporting discrepancies immediately.
- Never processing unauthorized discounts, refunds or transactions.
- Following opening, closing and cash-counting procedures.

Cleaning & Store Maintenance Keeping the store clean is part of the position and is not limited to designated cleaning shifts.

When customer traffic is slower, employees are expected to use available time productively by:

- Cleaning and organizing the store.
- Stocking merchandise.
- Facing and organizing shelves.
- Checking displays.
- Removing garbage.
- Cleaning counters and customer areas.
- Completing other assigned store-maintenance duties.

Qualifications

Required:

- Dependable and punctual.
- Comfortable handling cash and operating a POS system.
- Strong basic math skills.
- Positive communication and customer-service skills.




- Able to work independently with limited supervision.
- Able to follow policies and instructions consistently.
- Honest and responsible when handling cash and merchandise.
- Able to remain productive during slower periods.
- Available for a combination of weekday, evening and weekend shifts.

Preferred:

- Previous retail, cashier or customer-service experience.
- Previous experience using Square or another POS system.
- Experience working independently in a retail environment.

Physical Requirements The position may require employees to:
- Stand and walk for extended periods.
- Bend, reach and stock merchandise.
- Move boxes and merchandise safely.
- Perform routine cleaning and store-maintenance tasks.

Schedule Spearhead Smoke Shop operates seven days per week from 8:00 AM to 9:00 PM.

Full-time positions may be scheduled for approximately 40 hours per week, while part-time hours will vary according to operational requirements.

Employees must be prepared to work opening, closing, weekday and weekend shifts as scheduled.

What We Are Looking For The strongest candidates will be people who can be trusted to run their shift professionally without constant supervision.

We are looking for employees who see what needs to be done and do it—serve customers, stock merchandise, clean the store, maintain the register and keep the operation running smoothly.

Reliability, accountability and customer service are essential parts of this position.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $19.00-$20.00 per hour
