Transportation Sales Associate Job Overview

We are seeking an energetic, motivated, and results-driven Transportation Sales Associate to join our growing team. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys building customer relationships, developing new business, and working in the fast-paced transportation and logistics industry.

As a Transportation Sales Associate, you will be responsible for identifying recent business opportunities, contacting prospective customers, developing long-term client relationships, and promoting our transportation and logistics services. You will work closely with dispatch and operations to provide customers with reliable, competitive, and professional transportation solutions.

The successful candidate should be comfortable with cold calling, email outreach, lead generation, customer follow-ups, and account development. Previous transportation or logistics experience is an asset, but strong sales ability and a willingness to learn are equally important.

Duties & Responsibilities

- Identify and develop new customers and business opportunities within the transportation and logistics industry
- Conduct outbound cold calls, emails, and sales outreach to prospective customers
- Generate and qualify sales leads through online research, networking, referrals, and other prospecting methods
- Build and maintain strong relationships with shippers, manufacturers, distributors, warehouses, construction companies, and other commercial customers
- Promote transportation services including courier, LTL, FTL, hotshot, flatbed, refrigerated, and dedicated transportation
- Understand customer shipping requirements and recommend appropriate transportation solutions
- Prepare transportation quotes and follow up with customers to secure business




- Negotiate pricing and service requirements while maintaining company profitability
- Follow up on quotes, leads, inactive customers, and potential sales opportunities
- Maintain regular communication with existing customers and identify opportunities to increase their business
- Coordinate with dispatch and operations to ensure customer requirements can be successfully fulfilled
- Respond professionally to customer inquiries and assist in resolving service-related concerns
- Maintain accurate records of sales activities, customer communications, leads, quotes, and follow-ups
- Use CRM and other company systems to manage the sales pipeline and customer accounts
- Work toward established sales targets, revenue goals, and customer acquisition objectives
- Monitor market conditions and identify potential industries, customers, and transportation opportunities
- Represent the company professionally when communicating with customers and industry partners

Skills & Qualifications
- Previous experience in transportation sales, logistics sales, freight brokerage, courier sales, B2B sales, or business development is preferred
- Strong sales, negotiation, and customer relationship-building skills
- Comfortable making cold calls and approaching new businesses
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Professional phone and email etiquette




- Strong ability to identify customer needs and convert opportunities into sales
- Self-motivated and comfortable working toward sales and revenue targets
- Strong follow-up skills and persistence in developing new accounts
- Ability to manage multiple customers, leads, quotes, and priorities simultaneously
- Good organizational and time-management skills
- Basic computer proficiency and ability to work with CRM, email, Microsoft Office, and transportation management systems
- Understanding of transportation terminology, equipment, freight types, and pricing is considered an asset
- Knowledge of the Alberta transportation and logistics market is an asset
- Existing transportation industry relationships or customer contacts are considered a strong asset
- Multilingual or bilingual abilities are an asset when working with a diverse customer base
