Position Overview: The basic function of the Mechanical Outside Salesperson is to promote all the mechanical manufacturers that we represent, and to provide accurate and timely support, to all stakeholders in the HVAC industry. For this specific position the candidate must have a thorough understanding of mechanical systems to be able to make optimal selections and designs of products listed below.

The successful candidate’s responsibilities will include:

The following are the principal duties of the Mechanical Outside Salesperson.

- Develop and maintain relationships with all industry stakeholders (Contractors, Consulting Engineers, Developers, Owners etc.), to grow sales and expand market share in accordance with company goals and objectives.
- Promote the sale of all mechanical equipment including but not limited to Air Handling Units, Make Up Air Units, Roof Top Package Units, Dedicated Outdoor Air Units, Heat Pumps, Boilers, Water Heaters, Chillers and VRF.

This will include:
- Be able to identify, and maximize, opportunity.
- Carry out product selections for design/build contractors.
- Be able to interpret schedules, construction drawings, specifications, etc.
- Be able to do take-off’s, prepare quotations and tenders, prepare and issue submittals.
- Negotiate sales.

- Self-educate, and attend manufacturer’s factory / training visits, to ensure you are constantly up to date on the latest product developments and software tools. (Some travel will be involved)
- Understand, and remain current with,



both industry and local codes and regulations, and market trends, to ensure we comply and can exploit opportunities.
- Service the contractor community in an accurate and timely manner.
- Maintain an understanding of our competitor’s product offering.
- Build relationships through in-person meetings, lunches, industry events, etc. Follow up all quotes/opportunities to secure orders, better understand each market and investigate the projects we lose.
- Plan and implement new product introductions to the market.
- Visit job sites as and when in office challenges present themselves
- Plan and accompany customers on factory visits.
- Be a member of ASHRAE and attend monthly ASHRAE meetings.
- Organize and attend trade shows when requested to do so.
- Attend all divisional and office meetings
- Assist in all customer events as required. This could be open houses, sporting events, lunches, etc.
- Work as part of a team, with a Customer First approach to business.

The ideal candidate for this position will have:

- A minimum of 3 years’ experience selling HVAC related mechanical equipment, but 5 or more years would be preferred. A thorough knowledge of mechanical products is a must.
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or business is preferred.
- Working Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook & Internet Explorer.
- Understanding of how to read & interpret construction drawings.
- Positive attitude, exemplary attendance, ethical business practices, and a reliable team member.

- Building strong industry relationships – developing trusted partnerships with contractors, developers, owners, engineers, and other key stakeholders, positioning the company as the preferred supplier and technical resource in the market.
- Providing expert technical solutions – leveraging a strong understanding of HVAC systems and equipment to deliver accurate product selections, system designs, and value-driven recommendations that meet customer and project requirements.
- Delivering responsive and accurate customer service – providing timely quotations, tenders, submittals,



and technical support that help customers meet project deadlines and create a superior customer experience.
- Maximizing project and sales opportunities – actively managing opportunities from lead generation through quotation, negotiation, award, and closeout while maintaining strong follow-up practices to improve win rates and understand competitive positioning.
- Serving as a trusted HVAC resource – confidently interpreting drawings, specifications, schedules, and code requirements while helping customers navigate technical challenges and make informed equipment decisions.
- Maintaining robust market and competitive awareness – staying informed on industry trends, local regulations, emerging technologies, and competitor offerings to identify opportunities and strengthen market positioning.
- Representing manufacturers and new product initiatives effectively – successfully launching and promoting new products, educating customers on their benefits, and driving market acceptance through presentations, meetings, and industry engagement.
- Maintaining a visible and respected industry presence – actively participating in ASHRAE, trade shows, customer events, factory visits, and networking opportunities to strengthen relationships, build credibility, and generate new business opportunities.
- Supporting successful project execution – collaborating with customers, manufacturers, and internal teams to resolve job site challenges, address technical issues, and ensure projects are completed successfully and efficiently.
- Contributing to a customer-first team culture – working collaboratively with internal teams, demonstrating professionalism and accountability, and consistently delivering service that reinforces the company's reputation for excellence in the HVAC industry.
