E2 Academy is a specialized school for twice-exceptional (2E) learners from elementary through high school. Our students have areas of above-average ability, talent, or giftedness alongside diagnosed learning, developmental, social-emotional, behavioural, or sensory differences.

Position Overview

We are seeking a full time Grades 6–12 Science and Physical Education Teacher who brings creativity, flexibility, curiosity, and calm energy into their teaching.

The successful candidate will teach Science in Grades 6–12 and Physical Education from elementary through Grade 12. We are looking for someone who can make science hands-on, accessible, and meaningful while thinking outside the box to create engaging PE experiences that work for a wide range of neurodiverse learners.

Our PE program looks a little different. We do not have a traditional gymnasium, so PE takes place primarily outdoors and in community spaces. We need a teacher who sees this as an opportunity rather than a limitation and can create engaging experiences using parks, green spaces, community resources, alternative equipment, and the world around us.

What You’ll Do

- Design and deliver engaging Grades 6–12 Science programming aligned with the Alberta curriculum.
- Make complex scientific concepts accessible through hands-on, creative, and individualized instruction.
- Design and deliver Physical Education programming for students from elementary through Grade 12.
- Create outdoor and non-traditional PE experiences that are safe, engaging, inclusive, and adaptable to Edmonton's changing seasons.
- Create PE programming that builds confidence, teamwork, participation, and enjoyment.




- Adapt instruction to a wide range of academic, sensory, physical, social, and emotional needs.
- Build clear routines and provide structure while remaining flexible when students or circumstances require a different approach.
- Collaborate with the administration team, Learning Facilitators, other teachers, and our multidisciplinary team.
- Develop positive relationships with students and create environments where they feel safe, understood, challenged, and capable.

The Ideal Candidate You bring patience, compassion, humour, and steady energy to the classroom. You are comfortable with structure but know when to pivot, and you enjoy finding creative solutions when the traditional approach isn't working.

You understand that behaviour is communication and approach students with curiosity rather than control. You believe that high expectations and individualized support can coexist, and you want students to develop confidence and independence rather than simply comply.

Most importantly, you are willing to think outside the box. Whether you're finding a new way to explain a difficult science concept or figuring out how to teach PE without a gym in February, you see possibilities where others might see limitations.

Pay: $55,080.00-$92,453.00 per year
