The Public Works Seasonal Roads Operator is responsible for performing a variety of public works tasks in the Township of North Huron with main responsibilities in winter maintenance activities in accordance with the Township of North Huron policies and procedures as approved by Council.
Responsibilities:
- Snowplowing, sanding and salting
- Winter patrol duties as assigned
- Operation of a road grader and other heavy equipment, vehicles, power tools and hand tools as required safely and efficiently
- Maintain all vehicles and equipment
- Determine maintenance needs to meet the Minimum Maintenance Standards
- Participate in on-call duties on a rotating basis with other qualified staff to respond to Public Works emergencies after hours and on weekends
- Other duties as assigned by the Roads Supervisor and the Director of Public Works & Facilities
Minimum Qualifications:
- High School Diploma/GED or Post-Secondary Education
- Valid Class G license required; Valid Class D license with Z endorsement considered an asset
- Heavy machinery operating experience and/or certifications considered an asset
- Previous public works or winter maintenance experience considered an asset
Start Date: November 15, 2026 End Date: April 15, 2027
Rate of Pay: Band 5 ($26.01 to 35.12)
Hours of Work: Up to 40 hours per week (shifts include evenings and weekends as required)
