About Landmark East School

Landmark East is an independent co-ed day and boarding school for students in Grades 3 to 12 with learning differences including Dyslexia, Non-Verbal Learning Disabilities, Attention Deficit Disorder and more. Our school is located in Wolfville, Nova Scotia, a small university town nestled in the Annapolis Valley.

We provide quality academic programs fully approved by the Department of Education with individual intensive support classes available for students as required. A team of over forty dedicated professionals specializing in various roles drives the school’s success.

Position Requirements:

- To respect the dignity and rights of all students.
- To implement teaching strategies that foster a positive learning setting aimed at helping students achieve the learning outcomes.
- To encourage and engage students in the pursuit of learning.
- To acknowledge and, to the extent reasonable, accommodate differences in learning styles.
- To conduct such assessments and evaluations as are necessary and required to effectively document student progress.
- To take all reasonable steps necessary to create and maintain an orderly and safe learning environment.
- To maintain an attitude of concern for the dignity and welfare of each student and encourage in each student an attitude of concern for the dignity and welfare of others.




- To maintain appropriate order and discipline in the school or room in the teacher's charge and report to senior administration the conduct of any student who engages in or is the victim of severely disruptive behaviour, including any form of abuse, bullying or cyberbullying.
- To attend to the health, comfort, personal growth, and safety of all students.
- To keep accurate attendance records and report absent students as prescribed by school policies.
- To maintain and demonstrate a high level of professional competence at all times.
- To ensure that all reasonable and expected safety procedures are carried out in courses and activities for which the teacher is responsible.
- To refrain at all times from publicly criticizing the students, school staff, boards, policies, programs, or facilities of Landmark East.

Education, Training and Experience

- Bachelor of Education degree
- Nova Scotia Teaching Certificate
- Valid Driver’s License
- Criminal Record/Vulnerable Sector Check and Child Abuse Registry
- Helpful to have current certification for Emergency First Aid (or willing to obtain) and Mental Health First Aid is considered an asset
