AVS is looking for an experienced Security Systems Technician / Installer to join our team in Kelowna.

We design, install and service qualified security systems throughout the Okanagan, including video surveillance, access control and alarm systems. We are looking for someone who takes pride in their work, can think through problems logically, and is comfortable working independently in the field.

This is a hands-on technical position with the opportunity to grow with an established local company.

What you'll do

- Install and service video surveillance, access control and alarm systems
- Install and terminate low-voltage cabling and associated equipment
- Plan and route cable in a clean, professional manner
- Program, configure and commission security systems
- Troubleshoot system, network and equipment issues
- Perform service calls and system upgrades
- Read plans, determine cable routes and work through installation challenges
- Communicate professionally with customers and other trades on site
- Complete installations efficiently while maintaining a high standard of workmanship
- Maintain accurate service and installation documentation
- Travel to job sites throughout the Okanagan as required

What we're looking for The ideal candidate is a Security Systems Technician who can work independently and take ownership of a job from start to finish.

Required:

- Security System Technician TQ
- Valid BC Security Worker Licence
- Experience installing and servicing security systems




- Good understanding of low-voltage cabling and installation practices
- Ability to troubleshoot problems logically and independently
- Ability to read plans and determine efficient cable routes
- Knowledge of applicable BC Electrical Code requirements
- Valid driver's licence and acceptable driving record
- Own professional hand tools
- Professional appearance and good communication skills

Experience with any of the following is an asset:

- IP video surveillance
- Access control
- Intercom systems
- Alarm systems
- Network infrastructure
- Gate and vehicle access systems
- Programming and commissioning integrated security systems
