About Instant Risk Coverage

Instant Risk Coverage (IRC) is on a mission to transform how insurance is bought and sold. Our SaaS platform enables customers to purchase coverage instantly, bringing speed and simplicity to an industry that has historically had neither. We're at a pivotal moment where we are actively evolving from a tech-enabled insurance company into a true insurance platform company.

That shift means building the foundation that lets insurance companies, brokers, and customers connect, integrate, and transact through our technology. The team is small, driven, and building for scale.

As one of Canada's fastest-growing companies, we are customer-obsessed, passionate and entrepreneurial, with a team that includes leaders from EY, PWC, Vivid Seats, ChargeLab, Blackline, Ada, Flipp, Lazard and Labatt Breweries.

At IRC, everyone is expected to act like an owner, bringing their unique perspective to our team and product. Your voice is important, and we take having a culture based on feedback seriously. We openly share our thoughts and differing opinions, so we can continue to improve. We do our best to keep our decision-making decentralized, so that all team members feel ownership in our success.

Our Product

IRC is an intelligent insurance operating system, combining modern insurance services and software to help Event and Venue operators manage risk, save money and grow. Trusted by more than 500 venue groups to date and growing. IRC empowers venue and event operators to understand & manage risk effectively.

Our team is a collection of ambitious, team-oriented and mission-driven people from all walks of life with one joint goal: helping create access to affordable and fair insurance. We are looking for bold innovators to help shape the future of insurance.

About the role

We're looking for a Senior Analyst who sits at the intersection of finance and data. This is a hands-on role for someone who can build rigorous financial models and turn raw data into visual, decision-ready insight. You would be reporting directly to the CFO and have visibility among all executive leadership.

You'll own core budgeting, forecasting, and reporting processes while modernizing how the business sees its numbers — replacing static spreadsheets with dynamic dashboards and self-serve analytics. The right person for this role:

- Owns the whole problem. Comfortable moving from raw data extraction all the way to the executive-ready narrative and can translate data into actionable insights.
- Balances rigour and speed. Knows when a model needs to be exact and when a directional answer is enough.
- Builds for scale and reusability. Instinctively automates and documents rather than rebuilding the same analysis every month.
- Curious about the business, not just the numbers. Wants to understand why metrics move, not just report that they did, and the needs of the stakeholders, both internal and external, who need the metrics.

This includes tasks such as:

- Data, analytics & business intelligence
- Own the BI stack end to end — data models, the semantic/metric layer, dashboards,

and self-serve reporting in Power BI (and/or Databox) — giving stakeholders real-time visibility into financial and operational KPIs.
- Build and maintain reliable data pipelines and transformations (SQL, Power Query, Alteryx) across ERP, CRM, billing, the policy/product platform, and the data warehouse.
- Establish and govern a single source of truth: a documented data dictionary and consistent KPI definitions across the company, championing data quality and consistency.
- Instrument the metrics that matter for a SaaS/insurtech business — funnel and conversion, retention and cohorts, unit economics, policy/loss metrics etc.
- Enable self-serve analytics so stakeholders can answer their own questions, and automate recurring reporting so the team spends less time compiling data and more time analyzing it
- Partner with engineering and finance teams on warehouse structure, data quality, and pipeline reliability.

- Business partnering
- Serve as a trusted advisor to functional leaders, translating financial and analytical findings into plain-language recommendations.
- Prepare materials for monthly business reviews, board meetings, and executive updates.
- Proactively identify trends, risks, and opportunities in the numbers before anyone has to ask.

- Finance modeling & planning
- Build and maintain complex, driver-based financial models spanning the P&L;, balance sheet, and cash flow — plus investment theses and market studies — increasingly run off live data rather than static inputs.
- Develop scenario and sensitivity analyses to pressure-test assumptions, and support business cases for new initiatives, pricing changes, headcount plans, and capital investments with clear ROI and payback analysis.
- Support the annual budgeting process and the monthly/quarterly rolling forecast — tracking actuals vs. budget vs. forecast, explaining the “why” behind variances, and recommending corrective action.
- Continuously improve forecast methodology and reduce the manual effort in each cycle.

Skills and attributes for success

- 5+ years of experience in FP&A;, financial analysis, business analytics, or a closely related field.
- Advanced SQL and Python — querying, joining, and transforming data directly from warehouses and databases.
- Demonstrated experience building complex financial models from scratch — not just maintaining existing ones.
- Strong command of budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis in a business setting.
- Experience with any orchestration or transform framework, especially Power Query or Alteryx (and any related certifications).
- Hands-on proficiency with Power BI and/or Databox, including building dashboards, data models, and calculated measures.
- Advanced Excel skills (complex formulas, pivot tables, data structuring)

and using AI to work effectively and efficiently.
- Ability to work with data from multiple systems and transform it into clean, analysis-ready form.
- Excellent analytical judgment paired with the communication skills to make numbers understandable to non-finance audiences.
- Bachelor's degree in Data Analytics, Computer Science, Statistics, Engineering, Finance, Economics, or a related quantitative field.

Nice to haves

- Understanding of accounting, bookkeeping, and accounting software such as QuickBooks.
- Industry experience in insurance, insurtech or fintech.
- MBA, CPA, CFA, or comparable credential.

What we offer

- Salary CA$90,000 – CA$130,000 (IRC reports salary ranges in accordance with applicable provincial pay transparency legislation. Individual salaries within the anticipated salary ranges noted below are determined through a wide variety of factors including but not limited to internal equity, education, relevant experience, knowledge, and applicable skill sets.)
- Competitive benefits package
- Flexible hybrid work model with a collaborative downtown Toronto office.
- A culture of ownership, pragmatism, and continuous learning.
- Access to modern tools and technologies in a growing insurtech space.
