As a Senior Android Engineer on the Fable team, you’ll help shape the future of reading, working on Fable, a successful app that helps people build a reading habit, find their next book, and connect with other readers. Fable is a top 5 app in the Books category of the App Store with a growing, vibrant community.
You’ll play a lead role in developing Fable for Android, planning and developing features across all parts of the app. As Fable’s lead Android engineer, you’ll drive the architectural roadmap, planning and executing on performance and stability enhancements.

Your main focus will be to design and build high‑quality Android experiences.
Strengthen the app’s architecture and performance.
Contribute to technical direction, helping evolve Fable’s Android foundations and development best practices.
Partner with other engineers to improve code quality, test coverage, and release reliability.
Participate in code reviews, mentorship, and design discussions to help the team grow and move cohesively.
Champion a user‑first mindset, grounding technical decisions in how they enhance the experience.
You bring 5+ years of experience in Android development with a strong track record of building and shipping high‑quality consumer apps at scale.
You write clean, maintainable Kotlin code and have deep experience with Jetpack Compose, Coroutines/Flows, and modern Android architecture patterns such as MVVM or MVI.
You have a keen eye for usability, accessibility, and performance, and care about the craft of building intuitive, beautiful interfaces.
You take ownership from concept to release and value long‑term thinking over short‑term fixes.
You enjoy mentoring, knowledge‑sharing, and helping the team move as a cohesive unit.
You’re keen to apply AI coding tools to increase development velocity, and automate various parts of the software development process.
It’s a Plus If You Also Have Experience improving app reliability, load performance, or crash metrics in large‑scale Android apps.
Proficiency applying agentic / AI coding tools to Android development is a big plus.

Our pay ranges are based on the local cost of labor benchmarks for each specific role, level, and geographic location. In Canada, the reasonably expected salary range is between $157,000 CAD [minimum salary in our lowest geographic market] to $201,000 CAD[maximum salary in our highest geographic market].
