Posting

Reporting to the Manager of Information Technology, this position is responsible for designing, developing, administrating, and enhancing databases and various software applications (ex: web, console, windows, system service, shell scripts).

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

- Administers, maintains, develops, and implements procedures and plans for ensuring security and integrity of the databases.
- Plans and coordinates database security measures.
- Collaborates in designing and developing of databases for users responding/anticipating technological innovations.
- Implements data models and database designs, data access and table maintenance codes transferring /replicating data, resolving database performance issues, dataset capacity issues, replication, and other distributed data issues.
- Designing, developing, testing,



and implementing software applications (Web, SQL, Microsoft Azure, Python, Java Script, Perl, C, C# & Gen AI Programming) ensuring applications meet requirements.
- Researches, examines, and evaluates solutions and alternatives to business problems using work diagrams, structure/state charts, predicting risks and impacts.
- Provides technical support for application users and members.
- Job tasks are varied and complex (multiple databases, multiple clients, data warehouse) and contain new elements (design, maintenance). Judgment, research and analysis are required for design, debugging and testing.
- Other duties, projects, as assigned (individual or group responsibilities).

QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS

- Completion of a University degree in Information Technology or related field.
- Minimum 5 years' progressive experience (ex. database position, related design requirement) and with multiple programming applications, including architecture and database infrastructure.
- Familiarity with SQL, Microsoft Azure, Power Apps, Python, Java Script, Perl, C, C# will be considered an asset.
- Responsible for project leadership on planning, designing, developing and testing of new systems and applications using various programming languages and database schemas. DBA development and presenting the storyboard/mock up and design to the end users.
- Ability to provide technical advice to users/stakeholders with explanations of technical matters in nontechnical terms, and relaying of unwelcome information.




- Demonstrated effective interpersonal and communication skills with multiple levels and sources for listening and comprehension.
- Well-developed time management, prioritization, multi-tasking and organizational skills.
- Proven ability to interact diplomatically, tactfully and confidentially with all levels of the service and the public.

Hours

Monday to Friday / Day Shift (may occasionally require flexibility in hours or overtime)

Salary Level

This is a Level 11 position $131,056 (2025-2029 Collective Agreement)
