We are seeking an experienced Senior Carpenter to support field operations on a commercial interior construction project in Williams Lake, BC. This is a hands-on position combining senior carpentry responsibilities with site supervision and coordination duties.

The successful candidate must be willing to travel to Williams Lake or relocate for the duration of the project.

The position reports directly to the Interior BC District Manager and will be responsible for leading day-to-day site activities, performing and overseeing carpentry work, coordinating subcontractors, maintaining quality and safety standards, and keeping the project progressing efficiently.

Role Summary The Senior Carpenter / Site Supervisor will act as the senior field lead on site, providing hands-on carpentry expertise while supporting the supervision and coordination of subcontractors and daily construction activities.

This position is ideal for an experienced carpenter who has progressed into a lead hand, foreman, or site supervisory role and is capable of taking ownership of day-to-day site operations with support from the District Manager.

The successful candidate will be expected to:

- Perform and oversee high-quality carpentry and finishing work.
- Coordinate and direct subcontractors on a daily basis.
- Monitor construction progress and sequencing.
- Identify site issues and coordinate solutions.
- Maintain site organization, safety, quality, and productivity.
- Communicate daily site requirements and progress to the District Manager and project management team.

Key Responsibilities Carpentry & Field Execution

- Perform hands-on commercial carpentry work as required throughout the project.
- Lead and oversee framing, drywall, backing, blocking, doors, hardware, millwork, ceilings, and architectural finishing activities.
- Read and interpret construction drawings,



specifications, details, and schedules.
- Verify dimensions, layouts, elevations, and installation requirements.
- Assist with deficiencies, punch-list items, repairs, and final finishing.
- Coordinate carpentry activities with mechanical, electrical, plumbing, fire protection, and other trades.
- Maintain high standards of workmanship and attention to detail.

Site Supervision & Coordination

- Act as the senior day-to-day field representative under the direction of the District Manager.
- Coordinate subcontractors and trades to maintain proper construction sequencing.
- Monitor daily manpower, productivity, and site progress.
- Identify potential trade conflicts and site issues before they affect schedule or quality.
- Coordinate material deliveries, site access, staging, and storage.
- Ensure subcontractors are working from the latest drawings and approved information.
- Support site inspections and coordinate correction of deficiencies.
- Maintain organized site documentation, daily reports, photographs, and field records.
- Communicate site progress, concerns, delays, material requirements, and upcoming activities to project management.
- Assist in maintaining the project schedule and identifying upcoming site requirements.

Quality & Safety

- Maintain strict quality standards across all construction activities.
- Ensure work is completed in accordance with drawings, specifications, applicable codes, and project requirements.
- Conduct regular site walks and identify deficiencies.
- Enforce site safety procedures and support compliance with WorkSafeBC requirements.
- Maintain strong housekeeping and site organization.
- Identify unsafe conditions and take immediate corrective action.
- Promote a skilled, respectful, and productive site environment.

Required Experience

- 7+ years of commercial construction experience, preferably with significant carpentry experience.




- Strong hands-on experience in commercial interior construction and tenant improvements.
- Previous experience as a Senior Carpenter, Lead Carpenter, Foreman, Lead Hand, or Site Supervisor.
- Demonstrated ability to coordinate multiple trades and subcontractors.
- Strong knowledge of framing, drywall, ceilings, doors, millwork, finishes, and general interior construction.
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and schedules.
- Strong understanding of construction sequencing and site logistics.
- Ability to work independently and take ownership of daily site activities.
- Experience with commercial, institutional, healthcare, or similar projects is an asset.
- Previous experience working in occupied or operational environments is an asset.

Ideal Candidate The ideal candidate is a hands-on construction professional who can work with their tools when required but is also comfortable directing trades, coordinating activities, solving field problems, and taking responsibility for the overall organization of the site. This is not a purely administrative superintendent position. The successful candidate should be prepared to remain actively involved in the construction work while providing leadership and supervision to the site team.

Additional Requirements

- Valid driver's license.
- Comfortable using a mobile phone/tablet for site communication, photographs, reporting, and documentation.
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and make sound field decisions.
- Strong commitment to safety, quality, productivity, and professional workmanship.
- Must be willing to travel to Williams Lake or relocate for the duration of the project.
