Imperial Brady Canada, leading national distributor, has a job open in Montreal. This position is responsible for ensuring the timely and accurate financial for Imperial Brady Canada and the Divisions in accordance with GAAP. The position will develop and monitor compliance with accounting Imperial Brady Canada, and provide guidance to Finance Managers to ensure accuracy in reporting and compliance with GAAP and IBC accounting policies.
Responsibilities
Staff Management
- Oversight of all functions of Accouning and Finance
- General Accounting, Imperial Brady Canada and Divisions
- Accounts Payables (Trade and Expense)
- Vendor Management, Supplier Rebates and Treasury
- Vendor Support and Credit/Rebill
- Assist in the development of finance personnel through training of upcoming trends, new Company policies, and other technical areas of accounting.
- Establish strategic department goals and objectives
- Involved in Company initiatives
Technical Accounting
- Ensure compliance with all US and Canadian GAAP accounting and reporting requirements.
- Manage external and statutory audits.
- Integrations of acquisitions into ERP.
Financial Reporting
- Ensure compliance with country-specific statutory requirements.
- Provide executive oversight of financial consolidations and enterprise-wide reporting processes.
- Ensure the effectiveness of month-end,
quarter-end, and year-end close processes through leadership of Finance Directors and Controllers.
- Establish and monitor internal controls, accounting policies, and financial reporting standards to ensure compliance and mitigate risk.
- Oversee compliance with statutory, regulatory, and emerging accounting requirements while anticipating future business impacts.
- Lead relationships with external auditors, regulators, and senior government stakeholders.
Corporate Policies, Procedures and Internal Accounting Controls
- Lead the development, approval, and periodic review of enterprise-wide accounting policies, procedures, and reporting standards to ensure regulatory compliance and operational effectiveness.
- Drive continuous improvement, automation, and transformation initiatives that strengthen the control environment while improving efficiency and scalability.
- Champion standardization, process harmonization, and best-practice methodologies across business units, regions, and finance functions.
Financial Management and Leadership
- Lead enterprise-wide strategic initiatives, finance transformation projects, and organizational priorities in partnership with the VP Finance and senior leadership team.
- Provide executive oversight and governance of accounting methodologies, financial processes, and reporting practices across multiple entities, ensuring consistency, compliance, and operational excellence.
- Perform additional special analyses and projects as required by the VP of Finance.
- Represent the finance function at corporate, regional, and site leadership meetings as required.
Qualifications:
- Undergraduate degree from an accredited College/University required and Accounting major preferred.
- Masters degree in accounting or related area is preferred.
- 10+ years of related work experience.
- Accounting designation required.
- In depth knowledge of technical accounting research.
- CPA designation with a CA background and significant audit experience gained in a public accounting/audit firm is preferred.
- Project Management (PMP)
of Financial Systems implementation and/or conversion experience preferred.
- Positive and qualified demeanor, excellent verbal and written communication skills, and ability to interact effectively with a variety of team members in various departments and job levels.
- Manufacturing and/or distribution industry experience is preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to take leadership roles in special projects or other initiatives as assigned.
- Ability to work in a fast pace environment, excellent time management and organizational skills.
- Ability to effectively manage internal and external auditor requests.
- Must be a self-starter, results driven, and capable of working autonomously with limited supervision.
- Excellent analytical and problem solving skills.
- Excellent attention to detail.
- Advanced MS Office (Excel, Access, PowerPoint, and Word).
- Excellent communication skills in English and French – written and oral.
Management Duties: In accordance with applicable Company policies/procedures and Federal/Provincial laws, may perform the following supervisory responsibilities: Interviewing, hiring, orienting, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; coaching and appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
