The Role: The Senior Manager, Investment Product Manager plays a pivotal role in shaping, developing, managing and enhancing IG Wealth Management's investment products and solutions. The role is responsible for aligning the investment shelf with advisor and client needs, evolving market trends, competitive dynamics, and regulatory requirements.
Acting as a subject matter expert across the investment platform, the incumbent partners closely with sub-advisors, portfolio managers, research, operations, compliance, legal, marketing and distribution teams to support product strategy, commercialization, governance and advisor enablement initiatives.
The role combines investment expertise, strategic product management, competitive intelligence and cross-functional leadership to ensure IG Wealth Management delivers differentiated investment solutions that drive advisor adoption, client outcomes and business growth.
Key Responsibilities
Product Strategy & Development:
- Serve as the product owner and subject matter expert for assigned investment strategies and solutions.
- Support ongoing product strategy initiatives, including shelf optimization, positioning refinement, product rationalization and enhancement opportunities.
- Support the identification, evaluation and development of new investment solutions aligned to advisor and client needs.
- Partner with Research & Development, Investment Management, Sales and Distribution teams to develop business cases and product recommendations.
- Contribute to product launches, implementation plans and commercialization strategies
Market & Regulatory Insights
- Monitor industry, competitive and regulatory developments impacting investment products and advisor business models.
- Conduct competitive intelligence and market analysis across mutual funds, ETFs, managed solutions, alternatives and emerging investment categories.
- Evaluate product trends and identify strategic opportunities for platform innovation and differentiation.
- Assess regulatory developments and partner with Compliance and Legal teams to ensure appropriate product governance and communication.
Cross Functional leadership & Sub Advisor Management
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with sub-advisors and investment management partners.
- Partner with portfolio managers to understand portfolio construction, investment philosophy, positioning decisions and performance drivers.
- Support the coordination of investment insights, portfolio updates, market commentaries and product positioning initiatives.
- Coordinate across Operations, Legal, Compliance, Marketing, Technology and Distribution teams to deliver strategic product initiatives.
- Facilitate cross-functional stakeholder discussions to drive alignment and execution across the product lifecycle.
- Act as a key point of contact for investment strategy insights and product-related initiatives.
Advisor Enablement
- Develop compelling product narratives, positioning frameworks and advisor-facing educational content.
- Create market updates, quarterly commentaries, training materials and product communications.
- Deliver product education sessions and presentations to advisors and internal partners.
- Translate complex investment concepts into actionable insights that support advisor engagement and client conversations.
- Support sales enablement initiatives and advisor adoption of investment solutions.
Product Oversight, Performance & Risk Monitoring
- Support ongoing monitoring of investment products, including performance trends, competitive positioning and mandate alignment.
- Partner with Investment Oversight and Risk teams to understand and communicate key risk considerations.
- Contribute to product governance activities and committee materials.
- Escalate emerging product issues, trends or competitive risks to senior stakeholders.
- Support regulatory, operational and investment risk reviews throughout the product lifecycle.
Required Qualifications
- Post-secondary education in Business, Commerce, Finance, Economics or related field
- 7+ years of progressive experience in asset management, wealth management, investment product management, investment strategy, manager research or portfolio solutions.
- Demonstrated experience working with investment teams, portfolio managers, sub-advisors or distribution partners.
- Experience supporting product launches,
product enhancements and commercialization initiatives.
- Strong understanding of multi-asset portfolios, managed solutions, alternatives, ETFs and mutual funds.
- Experience developing advisor-facing investment content and delivering presentations to sales and distribution teams.
- CFA, CIM, CAIA or equivalent investment industry designation preferred. Candidates actively pursuing a CFA designation will be viewed favourably.
- Portfolio construction and asset allocation principles.
- Investment performance attribution and risk concepts.
- Product lifecycle management and governance.
- Competitive intelligence and market research methodologies.
- Morningstar Direct, Bloomberg, FactSet, eVestment and related investment analytics platforms.
The expected annual base salary range for this role is $77,500 - $105,000, which is determined based on skills, knowledge and experience and geographic location. In addition to base salary, this role is eligible for annual short-term incentive, health and well-being perks, retirement and savings plan, paid time off and career development.
