Position Description
CGI is seeking an experienced Senior Network Architect to provide architecture, design and technical leadership for secure, highly available enterprise network environments. The successful candidate will collaborate with cybersecurity, infrastructure, application, architecture, operations and project teams to develop resilient network solutions that meet demanding security, availability and performance requirements.
Location: Dartmouth/ Halifax, Nova Scotia
Work Model: On-site – 5 days per week
Security Requirements: Canadian Controlled Goods Program eligibility and Canadian Government Reliability and/or Secret Security Clearance eligibility
Your future duties and responsibilities
- Develop enterprise network architectures, designs, standards, patterns and technology roadmaps.
- Design secure LAN, WAN, data-centre and wireless network solutions.
- Produce high-level and detailed network designs, diagrams and technical specifications.
- Define network segmentation, security zones and secure connectivity architectures.
- Design resilient network services incorporating appropriate redundancy and disaster-recovery capabilities.
- Provide architecture guidance for routing, switching, firewalls, VPN, load balancing, DNS/DHCP/IPAM and related services.
- Assess existing network environments and recommend modernization and optimization opportunities.
- Establish network technology standards and architecture principles.
- Lead technology/product evaluations, proofs of concept and technical vendor assessments.
- Ensure network designs meet cybersecurity, availability, capacity and performance requirements.
- Collaborate closely with Security Architects to embed security controls into network designs.
- Lead technical design reviews and provide architectural oversight during implementation.
- Support root-cause analysis and resolution of complex network issues.
- Maintain architecture diagrams, standards, design documents and technical documentation.
- Support capacity planning and network performance analysis.
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship to engineering and operations resources.
Required Qualifications To Be Successful In This Role
- 10+ years of progressive enterprise network engineering experience, including significant architecture/design responsibility.
- Expert knowledge of enterprise routing, switching and networking protocols.
- Strong experience designing highly available LAN/WAN and data-centre networks.
- Strong understanding of network security, segmentation, firewalls and VPN technologies.
- Experience with Cisco and/or comparable enterprise networking technologies.
- Knowledge of SD-WAN, software-defined networking and network automation is an asset.
- Understanding of cloud connectivity and hybrid-network architectures is an asset.
- Excellent troubleshooting, analytical and technical problem-solving capabilities.
- Ability to communicate complex technical concepts to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Experience producing architecture diagrams, standards and detailed technical designs.
- CCNP, CCIE or comparable advanced network certification is highly desirable.
- Defence, government, manufacturing or other highly secure/regulated industry experience is an asset.
Security and work requirements Candidates must be able to work in office in Dartmouth/ Halifax five days per week, meet the assignment's 5+ year Canadian residency requirement, and be eligible for Reliability and/or Secret security clearance and Canadian Controlled Goods Program requirements.
CGI is providing a reasonable estimate of the pay range for this role. The determination of this range includes factors such as skill set level, geographic market, experience and training, and licenses and certifications.
Compensation decisions depend on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range is $65,000.00–$125,000.00 This role is a future opportunity
