The Senior
Estimator is responsible for leading the preparation, coordination, and delivery of high-quality cost estimates for major capital projects across PTAG’s portfolio. Reporting to the Director, Project Services, this role plays a key part in supporting project planning, execution, and control by providing accurate, timely, and data-driven cost estimates.

Estimator works closely with all interfaces including engineering, procurement, and construction teams to ensure that project estimates reflect current market conditions, sound methodologies, and organizational standards. Develop, coordinate, and deliver comprehensive cost estimates for all project phases — from conceptual and feasibility studies through detailed engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) execution.
Estimate Review & Validation: Perform detailed quantity take-offs, vendor pricing reviews, and subcontractor evaluations to ensure accuracy and completeness of estimates. Validate cost assumptions and methodologies using current data, historical benchmarks, and lessons learned.
Support Project
Planning & Decision-Making: Work with project managers and engineers to develop cost models, evaluate design alternatives, and identify cost-saving opportunities. Contribute to cost-risk assessments and contingency planning. Provide technical guidance and day-to-day support to junior estimators. Recommend improvements to enhance estimating quality and consistency across projects.
Benchmarking & Data Management: Leverage internal cost data and industry benchmarks to validate estimates and improve forecasting accuracy. Contribute to the maintenance and development of PTAG’s cost database and historical records.
Tools & Systems Proficiency: Use and maintain estimating software tools such as Cleopatra, EcoSys, or equivalent systems. Support integration with project management and cost control tools to improve workflow and data transparency.
Continuous Improvement: Participate in initiatives to improve estimating methodologies, tools, and processes. Support the implementation of digital estimating solutions and automation initiatives. 8–12+ years of experience in cost estimating for Power Generation, Energy, Mining, Nuclear, or Infrastructure projects. Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Construction Management, Quantity Surveying, or a related discipline.
Solid understanding of EPC project delivery, estimating methodologies, and cost drivers. Working knowledge of AACE International Classifications and Recommended Practices. Strong analytical skills with experience in cost modeling, benchmarking, and sensitivity analysis.
Experience integrating estimating activities with cost control, scheduling, and project management systems (e.g., Primavera, SAP). Eng) or Certified Estimating Professional (CEP) designation considered an asset. Demonstrated ability to mentor junior estimators and contribute to team capability development.
