Deloitte
Fast 50 – 3 years in a row Tech community credibility: CMP Top Mortgage Employer 2025 The mortgage industry runs on legacy systems, slow processes, and information nobody can see. We are changing that by building better technology. nesto is a place for builders, problem-solvers, and curious minds – people who move fast, embrace innovation, and believe we're stronger together. This is the place for you if you trust your skills and want to build technology that reshapes an entire industry.
We also do not think building with AI belongs to engineers. This is a remote-first role open to candidates anywhere in Canada. This role is focused on building automation coverage for these initiatives, shaping end-to-end quality as the programs scale.
We already have a strong automation suite and deep in-house expertise at the staff level. It's about taking what works, adapting it to a platform being reshaped for these programs, and wiring it into CI/CD so quality keeps pace with delivery speed. We move fast and iterate, but we don't ship manual workarounds – we invest in repeatable, scalable structure.
You'd be the automation specialist within our delivery team, working closely with our staff automation developers as expert sounding boards, setting the approach and advising us on how this should be done. You can expect roughly a 80/20 split between hands-on coding and collaboration, depending on the project stage. Within 90 days, a working test automation framework is running, with 60–80% of critical test scenarios automated, running, and actively relied on by the team.
Within six months, automation runs in the CI/CD pipeline on pull requests, mirroring what exists for our core platform.
You've adapted and extended the existing automation framework rather than rebuilding from scratch – leveraging the suite and expertise already in place. You make sure quality is understood beyond sprint-by-sprint testing, with a focus on ensuring all the pieces work together end to end.
Architect, build, and maintain scalable automated test suites in Playwright, using design patterns that keep them maintainable over time. Partner with architects, developers, product managers, and our Staff QA Automation Developers across the SDLC – to clarify requirements and define clear acceptance criteria early, and to raise QA practices across the organization. Drive quality across UI and API testing, using monitoring signals, incident reviews, and customer feedback to find improvements.
Work with Delivery leadership, stakeholders, and partners to prioritize automation coverage. Integrate automated testing into the CI/CD pipeline so coverage runs continuously. Work with product managers to define comprehensive test plans from product and design specifications (URDs, PRDs, HLDs).
Play a key role in supporting User Acceptance Testing (UAT) for key projects, for example when we integrate new partners or clients. Leverage AI to speed up how you build and maintain automated tests, then share what works with the team. Own quality beyond test execution – improve processes, documentation, and team workflows, and standardize what works into repeatable practices.
Review and run manual test cases in our test management tooling, validate features against test plans, and fold the right scenarios into the automated regression suite. 5+ years of QA experience testing SaaS or cloud applications, with a deep understanding of the full SDLC and how Quality Engineering fits into development. ~2+ years of hands-on test automation framework experience with Playwright, Cypress, or similar, including authoring and maintaining end-to-end (E2E) test suites. ~ A solid background in TypeScript and/or Go is required, and experience with MySQL or similar relational databases is a plus. ~ An automation-first track record: automated coverage over manual-only QA,
with reliability built into the CI/CD pipeline rather than bolted on. ~ Full-stack testing across UI and API layers, including API validation with tools like Postman. ~ Test architecture and scalable design expertise, using patterns such as Page Object Model, data factories, and separation of concerns. ~ Agile fluency, comfort with rapid release cycles, and familiarity with test management platforms like Allure TestOps. ~ Hands-on AI initiative: you have built agents or applications that made testing meaningfully faster You turn requirements into genuinely useful test coverage, not checkbox test cases Experience with MySQL or similar relational databases Familiarity with test management platforms like Allure TestOps Experience in SaaS, fintech, banking, insurance, or other financial services environments You have stood up automation from nothing on a program already in flight, and found that energizing rather than daunting You are comfortable telling leadership "here is what we should do and here is how" early on, not a year in You enjoy being in the room with business and delivery people, not only engineers, and can explain why a test gap matters in business terms You want to shape quality strategy, not only write test code This is not a role focused mainly on executing manual test cases. This is not a role for someone who prefers a reactive, waterfall approach and waits for development to finish before getting involved. This is not a role for someone who prefers to work in isolation and doesn't want to improve broader team workflows, documentation, or quality processes.
This is not a role for someone who isn't ready to bring AI tools into their daily work.
