Senior Report Developer - (Power BI)

Duration: 12 Months

Location: Toronto, ON

Work Arrangement: (5 Days Onsite per Week)

Position Overview

We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Power BI Report Developer to support the development of enterprise Business Intelligence (BI), reporting, analytics, and dashboard solutions. The successful candidate will work on multiple strategic reporting initiatives, delivering robust Power BI reports, data models, and analytics solutions that enable business stakeholders to make informed operational and strategic decisions.

The role requires strong expertise in Power BI, DAX, Power Query, SQL Server, Azure technologies, data modeling, and data visualization, along with the ability to gather and translate business requirements into effective BI solutions.

Key Responsibilities

- Design, develop, and maintain Power BI reports, dashboards, and data models.
- Build intuitive, scalable, and high-performing Business Intelligence solutions.
- Gather, analyze, and document stakeholder requirements.
- Transform business requirements into actionable reporting and analytics products.
- Perform data extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL) activities using Power Query.
- Develop and optimize Power BI datasets and semantic models.
- Ensure compliance with established IT standards, processes, and best practices.
- Support System Integration Testing (SIT) and User Acceptance Testing (UAT).
- Participate in knowledge transfer sessions and provide technical documentation.
- Collaborate with technical teams, business stakeholders, testers, and project managers.

Project Areas The selected consultant will contribute to multiple enterprise reporting initiatives, including:

- Compliance and enforcement reporting solutions
- Critical operational reporting initiatives
- Workforce and roster reporting
- Program inventory and performance reporting
- Public safety and operational analytics reporting
- Additional Power BI development projects as assigned





Mandatory Requirements

- Minimum 5+ years of experience as a Power BI Developer/Report Developer.
- Proven experience developing Power BI reports and dashboards.
- Strong hands-on experience with:
- Power Query
- DAX
- M Language
- Experience connecting Power BI to multiple data sources.
- Experience profiling, cleansing, transforming, and loading data into Power BI.
- Ability to design high-performing, maintainable data models.
- Experience creating executive and operational reporting solutions.
- Strong understanding of data visualization best practices.
- Experience examining, analyzing, and presenting data in a meaningful manner.

Technical Skills (60 Points)

Power BI & Reporting

- Extensive experience developing Power BI reports, dashboards, and scorecards.
- Expertise with Power BI datasets and semantic models.
- Experience with Power BI Service administration and deployment.
- Experience implementing report navigation and interactive reporting solutions.

Data Modeling & Analytics

- Strong experience designing dimensional and relational data models.
- Experience working with various data schemas and BI implementation methodologies.
