PS Consulters places senior developers into long-running engagements with federal and provincial public sector clients across Canada.

The current demand pattern is consistent: organizations replacing aging line-of-business systems with modern .NET services and React front ends, consolidating years of accumulated databases into clean SQL Server estates, and sustaining mission-critical platforms through multi-year enhancement contracts. These are not body-shop placements; each engagement names the consultant in the proposal, which means the resume is evaluated, referenced, and expected to be accurate in detail. The work rewards developers who are comfortable owning a system end to end: understanding the business rules buried in legacy code, designing the target data model, building the application layer, and explaining the choices to non-technical stakeholders.

Terms in this segment commonly run one to four years, making these engagements a stable alternative to short contract churn. Engagements are corp-to-corp or T4 through PS Consulters, hourly, at competitive market rates in the senior-developer band; applicants state rate expectations. Work is delivered in English.

Some federal engagements require candidates to obtain (or already hold) a Reliability Status clearance; sponsorship is handled per engagement. This is an anticipated contract role tied to an active public sector procurement. Start dates depend on award and onboarding timelines.

An existing clearance is an asset on several current and upcoming engagements.

Responsibilities

- Design, build, and maintain applications on C#/.NET (ASP.NET Core, EF Core) with SQL Server back ends
- Lead or contribute to database consolidation and modernization: schema analysis, data cleansing, migration design, and cutover
- Deliver modern, accessible front ends in React and TypeScript against REST APIs




- Work within client development standards: code review, branching strategy, automated testing, and DevOps pipelines
- Analyze and document legacy system behaviour where modernization is in scope
- Produce estimates, technical documentation, and architecture decision records
- Participate in stakeholder sessions, demos, and structured knowledge transfer to client staff
- Operate reliably in remote-first delivery with disciplined communication across time zones

Requirements

- 8+ years of qualified software development experience
- Deep C#/.NET experience including ASP.NET Core and EF Core in production
- Advanced SQL Server skills: complex schemas, performance tuning, and ideally multi-database consolidation or migration work
- Production React and TypeScript experience
- A track record of long engagements delivered as the named senior resource, with references who can speak to the work
- Strong professional English, written and spoken; the role interfaces directly with public sector stakeholders

Qualifications

- Legally eligible to work in Canada: Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or valid work permit
- Available as an incorporated (corp-to-corp) or T4 contractor
- Able to state hourly rate expectations and earliest availability date in the application
- Candidates holding a valid Government of Canada Reliability Status clearance are asked to note it in the application

Nice to Have
- A valid Government of Canada Reliability Status clearance
- Domain experience in energy markets and settlements, financial systems, or health-sector platforms
- Azure cloud services (App Service, Functions, Azure SQL, DevOps)
