Responsibilities:
- Working closely with the partners, managers and other staff on audit, tax and other engagements
- Assist accounting team with overflow of compilations, HST, T1’s and T2’s
- Prepare assurance files (audit and reviews) to be submitted to the partners for review
- Perform technical research, developing and documenting advisory recommendations
- Technical understanding and application of accounting and audit standards
- Managing multiple client relationships and understanding their unique business requirements
- Full cycle accounting functions
- Effectively utilizes Caseware, Quickbooks (Desktop and Online), Taxprep, Outlook, Word and Excel
Competencies
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple client files simultaneously
- Demonstrated critical thinking skills
- High attention to detail and accuracy
- Strong technical aptitude and experience with accounting related software
Requirements
- CPA/CA designation however will consider candidates with relevant and or equivalent education and or experience
- Minimum 3 years' experience in public accounting
- Minimum 2 years' experience working on assurance files; particularly completing small business assurance files from front to back.
- Minimum 2 years' experience with Accounting Standards for Private Enterprises (ASPE)
- Demonstrated understanding of provincial and Canadian tax rule and regulations
- Full cycle bookkeeping experience is an asset
- Use of own vehicle to use on company business preferred (minimal local travel may be required on occasion)
- Available to work scheduled/unscheduled overtime and excess hours during peak tax season
