Service Sprinkler Fitter – Fire Protection
Location: Lower Mainland, BC
Job Type: Full-Time, Permanent

We are currently seeking an experienced Service Sprinkler Fitter to join our growing Service and Small Projects Division. This role is responsible for the installation, modification, testing, and commissioning of fire sprinkler systems, primarily within tenant improvement and small project environments.
The successful candidate will be a skilled sprinkler fitter who takes pride in quality workmanship, safety, customer service, and working collaboratively with clients, other trades, apprentices, and the Escape Fire Protection team.
Areas of Accountability
- Layout, install, and commission various types of sprinkler systems for tenant improvement projects.
- Relocate, add, or remove sprinklers as required to suit tenant improvement layouts.
- Perform system shutdowns and fills independently.
- Fabricate and install sprinkler piping, including cutting, threading, grooving, and hanging, in accordance with NFPA and manufacturer requirements.
- Coordinate installation sequencing with other trades on site to keep projects on schedule.
- Order materials from various suppliers for work being completed.
- Operate power tools and machinery, including pipe threaders, pipe cutters, and groovers.
- Read and interpret blueprints and shop drawings and ensure all work is completed in accordance with building codes and NFPA requirements.
- Monitor and support the development of apprentices.
- Coordinate and assist with hydrostatic testing and inspections to ensure systems are ready for sign-off.
- Identify and communicate site conditions, delays, or deficiencies to the Small Projects Coordinator/Project Manager.
- Submit applicable forms, timesheets, and reports in accordance with Escape Fire Protection policies.
- Adhere to all safety policies and procedures established by Escape Fire Protection.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- In-depth knowledge of applicable NFPA codes and standards.
- Red Seal Certification as a Sprinkler Fitter.
- Valid BC Driver’s License with a clear Driver’s Abstract.
- ASTTBC Water-Based Sprinkler System Certification.
- Experience installing and servicing sprinkler systems on new construction and/or tenant improvement projects.
- Experience with fire alarm panels is considered an asset, including the ability to place a system on test and reset it.
- Robust understanding of sprinkler system installation, modifications, testing, and commissioning.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, shop drawings, and sprinkler layouts.

- Ability to communicate effectively with customers, general contractors, other trades, apprentices, and Escape Fire Protection staff.
Physical Ability
- Ability to comfortably lift up to 50 lbs.
- Comfortable standing and moving for extended periods.
- Ability to bend, lift, push, crouch, and work in physically demanding environments.
- Comfortable working at heights and on ladders, lifts, and elevated work platforms as required.
- Ability to safely operate power tools, machinery, and other equipment required for sprinkler installation.
