Job Overview

Newfoundland HVAC is seeking an experienced Sheet Metal Shop Fabricator to join our team.

The successful candidate will work primarily in our sheet metal shop, fabricating ductwork, fittings, and custom sheet metal components for commercial and industrial HVAC/mechanical projects.

Responsibilities

- Fabricate rectangular, round, and spiral ductwork and fittings
- Fabricate transitions, offsets, elbows, plenums, equipment connections, curbs, and other custom sheet metal components
- Work with galvanized steel, stainless steel, aluminum, and other sheet metals
- Read and interpret shop drawings, fabrication drawings, mechanical drawings, sketches, and details
- Accurately measure, lay out, cut, form, assemble, and finish sheet metal components
- Operate shop equipment
- Fabricate hangers, supports, flashing, stands and miscellaneous sheet metal items
- Ensure completed products meet required dimensions, specifications, and quality standards
- Coordinate with shop supervisors and field personnel to ensure fabricated materials meet project requirements
- Organize fabricated materials for delivery to job sites
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe shop environment




- Follow company safety policies and applicable occupational health and safety requirements

Qualifications & Requirements
- Previous sheet metal fabrication experience
- Experience in an HVAC or mechanical sheet metal shop considered a strong asset
- Strong knowledge of ductwork and fitting fabrication
- Ability to read and understand fabrication drawings and mechanical plans
- Experience operating standard sheet metal fabrication machinery and hand tools
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Robust attention to detail and pride in workmanship
- Reliable, punctual, and able to maintain a productive work pace
- Ability to safely lift and handle materials associated with sheet metal fabrication
- Valid driver's licence and own reliable transportation
- WHMIS and other applicable safety training considered an asset
