THE OPPORTUNITY:

This is a full-time, in-person opportunity for a Sheet Metal Worker who can confidently install ductwork based on blueprints and specifications. Abbott Mechanical welcomes applicants at a range of experience levels, from experienced apprentices to Red Seal journeypersons, with competitive wages. THE IDEAL CANDIDATE:

You have demonstrated experience fabricating and installing sheet metal ductwork from blueprints and shop drawings, and you're confident working independently once you understand the task at hand. You're safety-focused and comfortable working at heights and in a variety of site conditions. You take ownership of your work, communicate well with your crew, and bring a strong work ethic and a collaborative attitude to the job site.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Fabricate and install sheet metal ductwork and related HVAC components based on blueprints, shop drawings, and specifications
- Read and interpret blueprints, shop drawings, and specifications
- Measure, cut, form, and join sheet metal using hand tools, power tools, and shop equipment
- Work safely at heights, in mechanical rooms, and on active job sites, following all site and company safety protocols
- Collaborate with the rest of the crew and other trades to keep projects on schedule
- If registered as an apprentice, maintain accurate apprenticeship hours and documentation in line with Nova Scotia requirements
- Keep tools, equipment, and work areas organized and in good condition

REQUIREMENTS:

- Demonstrated ability to install ductwork based on blueprints, shop drawings, and specifications
- Red Seal certified journeyperson, or a registered apprentice
- Valid driver's license and own reliable vehicle to travel to the shop and job sites
- Own trade-appropriate hand tools
- Current WHMIS certification
- Current Working at Heights / Fall Protection certification
- Current First Aid/CPR certification
- Strong work ethic, reliability, and a collaborative approach on the job site
- Strong communication skills and ability to work well within a crew
