POSITION SUMMARY:

The Shop Hand & Parts Coordinator is responsible for supporting shop operations through parts ordering, inventory control, and general shop maintenance. This role ensures parts are ordered, received, approved, stored correctly, and available when needed, while also maintaining a clean, organized, and safe shop environment. The position supports mechanics and operations through parts delivery, shop assistance, and housekeeping duties, while complying with all PVT safety policies and procedures

JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Parts & Inventory Duties

- Order parts as required for shop and field operations.
- Receive parts and verify accuracy against purchase orders.
- Obtain and attach required approvals to parts orders and invoices.
- Properly label, organize, and put away parts upon receipt.
- Monitor and check inventory levels; report shortages or reorder needs.
- Pick up parts in Peace River when required,



including when the primary runner is unavailable.
- Deliver or pick up parts and drivers in Grande Prairie as required.
- Operate a PVT-owned pickup truck while following all Alberta traffic laws.

Shop Support Duties

- Assist mechanics and shop staff as needed.
- Help prepare units for servicing or dispatch as required.
- Ensure parts and materials are readily available to minimize downtime.

Housekeeping & Maintenance Duties

- Empty garbage cans throughout the shop.
- Empty cardboard recycling bins.
- Empty used oil filter racks.
- Empty used rag bins.
- Sweep shop floors and maintain clean walkways.
- Clean up spills and dispose of waste materials properly.
- Maintain overall shop cleanliness and organization on an ongoing basis.

Safety & Compliance

- Follow all PVT Health & Safety policies, NSC regulations, and Standard Work Procedures.
- Report unsafe conditions, hazards, or equipment damage immediately.
- Use all required PPE at all times.
- Participate in safety meetings and training as required.

Field Support – Swamper Assistance (As Required)

- Assist Vacuum Truck Operators as a swamper when operationally required.
- Participate in pre-job hazard assessments and safety meetings.
- Assist with hose handling, equipment setup/tear-down, and load securement.
- Act as a watch person when required during excavation or utility exposure.
- Ensure required PPE is worn and maintained at all times.
- Report hazards, incidents, near misses, or equipment damage immediately.
- Complete required paperwork related to field assignments.

Swamper duties are assigned on an as-needed basis and do not replace primary shop and parts responsibilities.

General

- Complete and submit required paperwork to dispatch, administration, or safety.
- Other job duties as required, as the above duties and responsibilities may change at any time with or without notice.

QUALIFICATIONS:

- High School Diploma, GED or equivalent.
- Holds a valid class 5 driver’s license at minimum.
- 1 - 3 years of directly related experience.




- Safety certifications such as Standard First Aid & Loader Certification are an asset.
- Oil Field Industry knowledge and assets.
- Strong communication skills.

WORK ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL DEMANDS: ☐ Travel to various branch locations and job sites is required, including environments that require the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) such as steel-toed boots, coveralls, safety glasses, hard hats, and hearing protection.

☐The role involves physical labour, including the ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and perform tasks that require reaching above shoulder height or below the waist.

☐Work may be performed in a variety of weather conditions and job-site environments.

☐Ability to stand, walk, and remain mobile for extended periods, including walking on uneven terrain.

☐Must remain alert and outside of the vehicle during loading and unloading operations.

☐Required to always wear all mandated PPE; hooded clothing is not permitted in the field or shop.

☐Daily use of the bump station is required if swamping.

☐Employees are expected to attend and complete all assigned jobs as dispatched; work assignments are not optional and cannot be declined based on preference.

EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK:

☐ This is a full-time, hourly position with variable work hours.

☐Employees are expected to work their scheduled shifts assigned. While on Shift you are on an on-call rotation, which may require availability 24 hours per day. Scheduled shifts may include statutory holidays; required to work scheduled shifts even when they fall on a statutory holiday.

☐Day and night shifts might be required.

☐Work requirements include camp-based assignments, hotel stays, sleeping in the truck, and working as a floater swamper between locations, as required.
