About the Position
Location: Fort Saskatchewan, Alberta - Live Gas Plant
Shift: Night Shift, 12-hour shifts, Up to a 24 days on/4 days off rotation
Project: Industrial Turnaround/Civil Earthworks
Waiward is seeking experienced Skid Steer & Telehandler Operators to join our civil earthworks team for an upcoming industrial turnaround at a live gas plant in Fort Saskatchewan, Alberta.
This is a safety-sensitive position working around active industrial operations, heavy equipment, personnel, and existing plant infrastructure. Candidates must have strong operating experience, a professional attitude, and a safety-first mindset.
We are looking for operators who are experienced, reliable, safety-focused,
and productive. The successful candidate will take pride in operating equipment safely and efficiently while working as part of a skilled civil earthworks crew in a demanding industrial environment.

Key Responsibilities
- Safely operate skid steers and telehandlers in an industrial civil earthworks/ Turnaround environment.
- Perform material handling, loading, backfilling, grading, and general civil earthworks duties.
- Safely maneuver equipment around personnel, structures, underground services, and operating plant facilities.
- Complete daily equipment inspections and report deficiencies immediately.
- Follow site procedures, safe work practices, traffic plans, and supervisor direction.
- Maintain clear communication with ground crews, equipment operators, supervisors, and other trades.
- Work safely during night-shift operations and changing site conditions.
- Assist the civil crew with general labour duties when required.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area.
- Participate in toolbox meetings, FLHAs/JHAs, and other site safety requirements.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Valid Telehandler/Zoom Boom Operator ticket – REQUIRED.
- Proven experience operating skid steer and telehandler equipment.
- Industrial, civil earthworks, oil & gas, or turnaround experience is considered an asset.
- Strong understanding of equipment safety and operating procedures.
- Ability to safely work around heavy equipment and in a live gas plant environment.
- Comfortable working 12-hour night shifts.
- Ability to work a turnaround schedule of up to 24 days on / 4 days off.
- Must be physically capable of performing general civil labour duties when required.
- Reliable transportation to and from site.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work as part of a team.
- Must be dependable, punctual, and committed to following site safety requirements.

- Immediately reporting hazards, equipment deficiencies, and unsafe conditions.
- Never compromising safety for production.
