Responsibilities

Within the Research and Technology team, the student will work as a developer on a fast-paced team to help develop software for other engineers in the company. This position focuses on creating AI solutions to help engineers in decision-making and to streamline the design process. There will also be opportunities to contribute to Multi-Disciplinary Optimization (MDO) tools, which support early-stage landing gear design.

The student will be involved in the design, debugging, and development of data pipelines, backend AI models, as well as front-end web development.

- You are detail-oriented and can balance building user-friendly interfaces with writing clean, maintainable code
- You’re curious about how software moves from development to deployment, and are excited to gain hands-on experience with AWS services
- You like to approach problems analytically and creatively, whether debugging code or exploring ways to integrate AI features into real products
- You collaborate openly, ask questions when needed, and thrive in a team that values continuous learning and iteration

About us:
- We are developing and maintaining large-scale codebases, using modern coding standards and best practices, in Python and JavaScript
- We work with design engineers and see the tools we develop used for real aircraft development programs
- Our team develops AI software, with the potential chance to take on additional projects across the organization
- At the core, we are a research team – previous interns have had the opportunity to be involved and credited on publications and patents

Qualifications:

- Currently pursuing a bachelor’s in computer science, Engineering, or a related field.




- Familiarity with programming in Python and JavaScript.
- Exposure to front-end development concepts (experience with a modern framework such as React or Vue.js is an asset).
- Basic understanding of the AWS cloud platform (e.g., S3, EC2, or Lambda), or a strong interest in learning.
- Exposure to Large Language Models (LLMs) or relevant libraries.
- Comfortable using Git or another version control system.
- Experience with CI/CD workflows (GitLab, GitHub Actions, or similar) is an asset.
- Strong problem-solving skills, eagerness to learn, and ability to work both independently and in a team.

Nice-to-Have

- Experience with AWS services beyond the basics (e.g., SageMaker, OpenSearch) through projects or coursework
- A portfolio, GitHub profile, or examples of past coding projects
- Previous experience in student teams, hackathons, or collaborative projects
