The Boulton is looking for a Sous Chef. Minimum 2 years’ experience in food preparation services. Culinary Arts diploma required. Food Handlers Training Certificate required. Experience in a retirement residence environment an asset. Red Seal certification an asset.
Position
This full-time position is responsible for all food services as directed by the Food Services Manager. This includes the preparation of meals, ordering ingredients and supplies, the overall cleanliness of all areas to the kitchen, ensuring the preparation of all menus in a fashion that meets the dietary and cultural needs of the residents and the supervision of all staff related to these services as directed by the Food Services Manager.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Assist the Food Services Manager with all planning, preparation and delivery of food services including, but not limited to: ordering all ingredients and supplies, maintaining proper inventory levels, aiding the Food Services Manager in taking inventory, planning well-balanced and nutritious meals, preparing all meals or ensuring their preparation at regular meal times, ensuring residents dietary needs, tastes and traditions are considered in all food preparation.
- Organization and preparation of special meals when called upon by the Food Services Manager or Administrator.
- Responsible for the cleanliness of all food service areas, particularly the kitchen and: putting away of stock and supplies, proper rotation of stock and supplies,
proper labelling, usage, and disposal of leftovers, including the proper tracking of leftover inventory levels.
- Responsible for the supervision & training of kitchen staff, as directed by the Food Services Manager.
- Ensure that all Food Services Staff are carrying out their responsibilities in a professional and caring manner.
- Handle any Food Services transactions.
- Ensure that all safety and work standards are adhered to the maximum of all and any applicable standards.
- Report to the Food Services Manager regarding any unusual or difficult situations in respect to the Food Services area.
- Attend staff meetings and other meetings as called upon by the Food Services Manager or Administrator.
- Co-operate with other staff in the delivery of services to residents.
- Maintain on-going development in the area of food service delivery by reading pertinent materials, looking for recent recipes and creative ways to deliver food services, attending workshops, etc.
- Represent the organization both formally and informally in a professional manner.
- Carry out such other relevant tasks as may occur from time to time as directed by the Food Services Manager.
Job Type: Full-time Pay: $40,000.00-$45,000.00 per year
