We’re looking for an Economic Development Associate to join our Montréal team and support the research, outreach, and lead generation behind that impact.
About the Role
As an Economic Development Associate, you’ll help identify and engage companies that may be growing, expanding, or considering new investment opportunities.
You’ll research companies and industries, connect with senior decision-makers, gather business intelligence, and help generate qualified opportunities for ROI’s economic development clients.
This is a mix of business development, research, outreach, writing, and relationship-building . Because outreach is an important part of the role, you should be comfortable initiating conversations by phone, email, and LinkedIn.
You don’t need to be a “hard seller.” We’re looking for someone who is curious, professional, resilient, and genuinely enjoys connecting with people, asking thoughtful questions, and working toward clear goals.
What You’ll Do
- Research companies, industries, markets, and investment trends
- Identify companies with growth, expansion, or investment potential
- Conduct outbound outreach by phone, email, and LinkedIn
- Engage C-level and senior business decision-makers and build initial relationships
- Customize outreach based on company research and market context
- Qualify prospects based on client criteria and business relevance
- Gather business intelligence through research and conversations
- Schedule qualified meetings between companies and ROI’s clients
- Prepare concise company profiles, reports, and business intelligence notes
- Maintain accurate CRM records, outreach activity, and follow-up details
- Work toward monthly outreach, qualification, and meeting-generation KPIs
- Collaborate with ROI team members to continuously improve targeting, messaging, and campaign performance
What We’re Looking For
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Economics, International Relations, Marketing, Communications, Political Science , or a related field
- 1–3 years of relevant experience in B2B outreach, lead generation, business development, sales development, market research, international business, recruitment sourcing, or a related role
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Comfort reaching out to new prospects by phone, email, and LinkedIn
- Confidence building rapport with senior business contacts
- Strong research skills and curiosity about companies, industries, and global markets
- Ability to work with KPIs, targets, and performance feedback
- Strong organization, follow-through, and attention to detail
- Cross-cultural awareness and communication skills
- Ability to work independently in a primarily remote setting
Nice to Have
- Bilingualism in English and French
- Experience with Salesforce, HubSpot, LinkedIn Sales Navigator, ZoomInfo, Apollo, or similar tools
- Experience in economic development, investment attraction, international business, consulting, SaaS, B2B services, recruitment sourcing, or professional services
- Experience writing company profiles, market summaries, prospecting emails, or business research notes
- Interest in industries such as technology, manufacturing, life sciences, logistics, energy, clean technology, or advanced industries

Work Environment This position is based in Montréal, Quebec and is primarily remote, with team members expected to come into the Montréal office at least once per month .
Our office is located in the Old Port of Montréal , in a modern coworking space designed for collaboration and flexibility. Employees are also welcome to use the office more frequently if they prefer a hybrid routine.
