Position Summary

Working collaboratively within a transdisciplinary model, the Speech Language Pathologist (SLP) will provide ongoing assessment, targeted programming and intervention to support the speech and language development of children within the Pre-Kindergarten Program.

Job Duties/Responsibilities

- Perform screenings and assessments to confirm children meet current Program Unit Funding (PUF) eligibility requirements prior to registration.
- Administer, interpret and analyze standardized and informal assessments to accurately identify each child’s unique strengths and challenges.
- Write comprehensive assessment reports in accordance with the Alberta College of Speech Language Pathologists and Audiologists (ACSLPA) documentation guidelines and Alberta Education requirements.
- Communicate assessment results, progress, and speech-language strategies clearly and empathetically to families and school personnel.
- Provide individual, small-group,



and whole-classroom intervention including specialized support for children with complex communication needs.
- Partner with the classroom team to implement best practices for universal, targeted and specialized communication strategies.
- Assist in developing curriculum adaptations, modifications, and specialized learning materials to promote student success and achievement.
- Implement positive behaviour support strategies and co-regulation techniques to foster a safe learning setting.
- Collaborate closely with the transdisciplinary team to ensure communication goals are seamlessly integrated into the child’s daily educational programming.

Education/Qualifications

- Master’s degree in Speech Language Pathology
- active registration and in good standing with Alberta College of Speech Language Pathologists and Audiologists (ACSLPA)
- minimum of three years related experience working with pre-school and school-aged children
- demonstrated experience with Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) systems and tools
- strong assessment and intervention skills, paired with excellent communication, collaboration and consultative abilities

Rate of Pay $49.20 - $62.88 per hour
