Weekly Hours: 40 hour per week

This is a temporary position with an approximate end date of August 31, 2027

About the Department

Facilities - Maintenance includes all trade and grounds positions that work in school and administrative sites.

Position Description

Purpose: The purpose of the Sprinkler Fitter Inspector is to perform preventive maintenance to the fire protection systems as well as to complete legislated inspections for CBE facilities.

Accountability:

This position is accountable for:

- Maintaining a productive balance between quality and quantity of work in an efficient and timely manner while demonstrating adaptability to changes in work priorities;
- Effectively prioritizing work and solving associated problems in a collaborative manner;
- Communicating effectively;




- Demonstrating teamwork to contribute towards and maintain positive work relationships; and
- Performing all duties in accordance with CBE and legislative safety practices and procedures at all times to ensure their own safety and the safety of team members, staff, and students.

Responsibilities:

- Access fire alarm panels and facilitate the silent tests of field devices on CBE’s sprinkler systems,
- Perform routine legislated inspections of the fire protection systems as per NFPA requirements,
- Complete inspection and deficiency reports of findings in a timely manner,
- Perform testing of all field devices on alarm panels
- Prove water volumes and record results on fire systems sprinkler systems, fire hydrants and fire hose systems,
- Schedule preventative maintenance and repairs to fire systems,
- Complete Annual, Semi-Annual and Quarterly Sprinkler Inspections; and semi-annual hydrant testing,
- Maintaining a productive balance between quality and quantity of work in an efficient and timely manner while demonstrating adaptability to changes in work priorities;
- Effectively prioritizing work and solving associated problems in a collaborative manner;
- Communicating effectively;
- Demonstrating teamwork to contribute towards and maintain positive work relationships;




- Performing all duties in accordance with CBE and legislative safety practices and procedures at all times to ensure their own safety and the safety of team members, staff and students.
- Demonstrating proficiency with various pieces of equipment used to perform job duties.

Qualifications:

Education and Experience:

- High School Diploma is required
- Must be a Journeyman Sprinkler Fitter,
- Demonstrated skills and competencies,
- Must have 15 years of practical experience in a similar role,
- Proficiency in basic computer skills,
- An equivalent combination of directly related education and directly related experience may be considered.

Demonstrated Skills and Competencies:

- Must have strong communication skills, both written and verbal,
- Demonstrated interpersonal skills,
- Must be able to work independently with minimal supervision,
- Must possess a current Alberta Class 5 Operators License, and provide a driver’s abstract.
