Job Overview
Grande Banks Pharmacy is seeking a licensed Pharmacist to join our team and play a central role in delivering safe, accurate, and patient-focused pharmacy care. In this role, you will oversee prescription verification, patient counseling, and clinical decision-making, while supervising and supporting pharmacy assistants in daily operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Review, verify, and dispense prescriptions accurately and in compliance with all applicable regulations and standards of practice.
- Counsel patients on medication use, potential interactions, and side effects, and answer clinical questions from patients and healthcare providers with a professional, approachable manner.
- Provide clinical oversight of medication preparation, packaging, and labeling, and supervise, train, and support pharmacy assistants.
- Perform medication reviews, adaptations, and prescribing within your scope of practice, as authorized under Alberta College of Pharmacy regulations.
- Administer injections (e.g., vaccines) where applicable and authorized.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records in compliance with privacy, documentation, and regulatory standards.
- Oversee pharmacy inventory and controlled substance management, ensuring compliance with all federal and provincial regulations.
- Collaborate with physicians and other healthcare professionals to support positive patient outcomes.
- Ensure the pharmacy operates in compliance with all applicable laws, professional standards, and safety protocols.
QUALIFICATION
- Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) or equivalent pharmacy degree.
- Licensed and able to practice pharmacy in Alberta (and be in good standing with the Alberta College of Pharmacists)
- Experience with Kroll pharmacy software is strongly preferred, given the operational demands of the role; training is available for an otherwise strong candidate.
- Injection certified
- Additional Prescribing Authorization (APA)
is an asset.
- Strong clinical knowledge and sound judgment in a fast-paced community pharmacy setting.
- Strong customer service skills, valuable communication and leadership skills
- Willingness to be a part of the community
- Willing to actively participate in patients’ healthcare outcomes
- Willingness to participate in various managed care initiatives (osteoporosis, diabetes, cholesterol, hypertension & asthma) and wellness clinics within the community

Pay: $60.00-$70.00 per hour
