Postmedia is a Canadian news media company representing more than 110 brands across print, online, and mobile platforms. The Financial Post is hiring a senior journalist to expand our energy coverage in Western Canada.

Responsibilities

Interview CEOs, analysts, workers and other newsmakers in the energy industry to deliver comprehensive coverage of Canada’s energy sector.

Cultivate sources, locate stories buried in documents, and break news on tight deadlines while writing in a clear, concise, and engaging style.

Cover daily news files and company earnings, investigate in-depth stories, and write explainers on complicated topics for a broad, national audience.

Qualifications

5+ years of reporting experience, preferably in business journalism.

Knowledge and experience in covering energy.





Demonstrated ability to identify trends and drivers behind news and explain the implications.

Demonstrated ability to write effectively in various formats, from breaking news to explanatory work to long‑form features.

Canadian Securities Course is an asset.

Experience with data analysis is an asset.

Video or podcast experience is an asset.
