MUSIC INSTRUCTOR!

Storybook Theatre is looking for an enthusiastic and experienced Music Instructor to join our Theatre School team! This position is ideal for someone with a strong musical background who loves working with children and is excited to help young performers build confidence in both singing and music literacy.

THE ROLE The Music Instructor will work with young performers of varying musical experience, helping them develop their singing skills while introducing and strengthening their understanding of music theory and music reading.

Our students may range from complete beginners to children who already have experience reading music, so the ability to adapt instruction to different skill levels is essential.

RESPONSIBILITIES

- Teach young students foundational and intermediate vocal and musical skills
- Lead students through vocal warm-ups, exercises, and singing instruction
- Teach and reinforce music reading and basic music theory
- Help students learn to read and understand sheet music
- Support students who are beginners while challenging those with more advanced musical knowledge




- Teach students how to apply musical concepts to songs and musical theatre repertoire
- Accompany students on piano during lessons and rehearsals
- Help students develop confidence, pitch, rhythm, breath support, diction, and musicality
- Prepare students for performances and musical theatre programming
- Create a positive, encouraging, and inclusive learning workplace
- Work collaboratively with directors, choreographers, instructors, and other Theatre School staff
- Adapt lessons and teaching approaches to suit different ages, abilities, and learning styles

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

Required:

- Strong ability to play piano
- Ability to read sheet music
- Strong understanding of music theory and musical fundamentals
- Background or formal training in music
- Experience working with children or youth
- Strong vocal and musical skills
- Ability to teach students with a wide range of musical experience
- Positive, patient, and encouraging teaching style

Pay: $18.00-$20.00 per hour
