Supportive Assistant- Casual

Looking for an easy going and thoughtful individual for a few hours a week to support a young man in exploring his interests, building independence in the home and strengthening life skills. The position requires “bridging to the community” – identifying opportunities for greater community participation and belonging, role development and fostering increased connection for the person.

This role would be best suited for someone who is adaptable, reliable and can provide thoughtful and sensitive accompaniment. The family is also looking for someone who is a sportsperson and can facilitate new connections for their son with people his own age with this similar interest. This role may be appealing for a university or college student.

As a supportive assistant, you possess a willingness to learn, have strong observation and communication skills and can follow the lead and direction of the person and his family.

Having access to a reliable mode of transportation is an asset.



The family is currently looking for support one to two times per week for 3-6 hours. This could also include accompaniment to any new job opportunities or certification training he may have. The rate of pay will be $23-25 to start, depending on experience and qualifications.

**This is a self-employed Independent Contract Support Worker position. This position works directly with the family, and all scheduling and training is delivered by the family.

Qualifications:

· Applicant must be over 18 years of age.

· Vulnerable Sector Check is required.

· Passion for and experience in playing and coaching sports is an asset.

· Background in Recreation and Leisure would be beneficial.

· Strong communication skills

· Current First Aid/CPR

Job Type: Casual/Part time

Rate of pay- $23-25 to start based on experience

Licence/Certification: Vulnerable Sector Check (required)

Location- Lincoln West- Niagara

Pay: $23.00-$25.00 per hour
