As an Associate, Sustainability Assurance, you’ll support the delivery of assurance services related to greenhouse gas emissions, ESG information, and sustainability disclosure requirements.
In this role, you’ll work with multidisciplinary teams and clients to develop an understanding of their business operations, data collection processes, and the controls that help ensure the reliability of their sustainability reporting. As a Sustainability Assurance Associate, unlock your potential and embrace the chance to contribute to meaningful outcomes that’ll support your career growth. Your role will include, but isn’t limited to:
- Supporting the credibility of our clients' sustainability reports by participating in independent assurance engagements over non-financial information, including greenhouse gas emissions, environmental, social, and governance (ESG) indicators, as well as other key data disclosed in sustainability reports
- Perform procedures to assess whether sustainability data and disclosures are prepared in accordance with recognized standards, frameworks, and guidance, including the Greenhouse Gas Protocol, the International Sustainability Standards Board (ISSB) standards, the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD), and other applicable requirements
- Support clients and engagement teams in preparing for an assurance engagement by helping review policies, methodologies, data collection processes, internal controls, calculations, and disclosures, and by documenting observations for review
- Contribute to advisory engagements related to the preparation, review and enhancement of sustainability reports, the governance of disclosed information, compliance with current and emerging requirements, and the adoption of leading market practices, while working under the guidance of more experienced team members
What you'll bring Your skills, knowledge, and experiences are what set you apart. Here's what we look for:
- Relevant post-secondary degree, ideally in accounting, finance, or a related field, and be pursuing or have obtained your CPA designation,
which would be a significant asset for this role
- Some experience in public accounting, accounting advisory services, financial reporting or sustainability-related work, including through internships, co-op placements, or early-career roles
- Strong interest in sustainability topics, greenhouse gas emissions, and the evolving landscape of sustainability reporting standards
- Analytical and problem-solving skills, with a willingness to develop qualified judgment in assessing the quality, consistency, and traceability of data used in sustainability reports
- Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and a disciplined approach to executing and documenting work, while learning to manage engagement priorities and deadlines effectively
- Ability to work collaboratively with team members, managers, and clients in a dynamic environment, while taking ownership of assigned tasks with appropriate guidance and support
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to clearly articulate observations and questions, contribute to recommendations, and develop trusted relationships with clients
- Comfort with technology tools, data analysis, and the responsible use of digital solutions, including AI-powered tools, with a willingness to build capability and apply them to enhance the efficiency and quality of work
- The successful candidate requires fluency in English, in addition to French as they will be required to support or collaborate with English-speaking clients, colleagues and/or stakeholders during the course of their employment with PwC Canada
This position ensures continuity and upholds our standards of excellence following the departure of a valued team member. The salary range for this position is $46,600 - $77,600. The posted salary range represents the expected hiring range for PwC locations in major city centres. Given our national recruiting approach, ranges may vary for positions in other locations.
At PwC Canada, base salary is determined by your skills, experience, qualifications and work location. In addition to base salary,
eligible employees may have opportunities to participate in variable incentive pay programs which are designed to reward individual and firm-wide achievements. We are committed to offering competitive compensation and adhere to all relevant pay transparency legislation.
