Company Description
Over the last ten years, Mirsee Robotics has designed and built three complete generations of humanoid robots in-house, in Cambridge, Ontario. Our latest platform, MH3, is a wheeled humanoid; supporting both tele-operation and autonomous control modes. As we continue to grow, we’re looking for a talented leader to fill the SVP of Software Engineering role.
This position involves maintaining alignment between engineering teams, achieving a production-grade software architecture, and guaranteeing that all critical software positions are staffed ahead of launching our next-generation production platform.
Role Description
This is a full-time, in office management role at Mirsee Robotics Inc. in Cambridge, ON, reporting to the CEO. You'll co-lead Mirsee's software architecture and software development roadmap for Mirsee’s current and future generation humanoid platforms. You will be accountable for delivering robotics software with robust autonomy, perception, and navigation capabilities according to the project deliverables and timelines.
You will ensure strict quality control of the codebase, relevant technical standards compliance is met, and the timely delivery of system updates. You'll work in close partnership with our CEO, CTO, Product Manager, and Director of AI to ensure proper execution and delivery of project goals are achieved.
Key Responsibilities
- Co-develop the software architecture, technical roadmap, and delivery of the ROS 2-based software stack for the MH3 platform and successor products
- Lead, hire, and mature the software team to achieve production-grade reliability
- Refine and enforce engineering standards across architecture and design review, code quality, testing, CI/CD, release management, and documentation
- Partner with the CTO on hardware-software integration, device interfacing, and hardware requirements
- Partner with the Director of AI to integrate VLA-based features into the production stack where appropriate and within available compute resources
- Own the testing and validation strategy end to end: unit tests, HIL/SIL, integration testing, simulation-based validation, and validation on physical robot hardware
- Drive the shift from pilot projects toward production-grade software — reliability, defect management, traceability, and the software contribution to functional safety work on next-generation platforms
- Establish clear delivery practices with the Project Manager so software commitments are visible, risks and dependencies surface early, and progress is reportable
- Represent software capability, roadmap, and progress to the CEO, Board, investors, and technical partners
- Foster a collaborative, high-standards engineering culture, and mentor senior engineers toward greater technical and leadership scope
Required Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Robotics, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical discipline, or equivalent years of related work experience
- 12+ years of software engineering experience, including 5+ years leading and growing software teams
- Experience delivering software for robotics, autonomous systems,
or other complex real-time electromechanical products, including hands-on deployment on physical hardware
- Architectural depth in ROS 2, including DDS and distributed real-time system design
- Expert-level C++ and Python
- Expert-level knowledge of Linux and Git, and modern team-scale engineering practice (CI/CD, automated testing, code review, release management)
Nice to Have
- A track record of taking software from prototype to a released, supportable product
- Experience managing senior individual contributors or managing managers
- Expertise in perception, localization, and navigation: multi-sensor fusion, SLAM, visual and LiDAR odometry, point-cloud processing
- Working knowledge of motion planning
- Embedded Linux and NVIDIA Jetson family experience, including performance profiling and compute budgeting
- Simulation-based development and validation (e.g., NVIDIA Isaac Sim) and hardware-in-the-loop test infrastructure
- Familiarity with functional safety concepts and standards as they apply to software in collaborative robotics
- Familiarity with industrial communication and control protocols (e.g., CAN, EtherCAT)
- Advanced degree in a relevant discipline
