Nature and Scope: The YMCA of Oakville is the largest not-for-profit Child Care provider in Oakville. We offer high-quality Before and After School programs for children ages 3.8 to 12 years at 42 locations across Oakville, as well as Infant, Toddler and Preschool Child Care programs for children ages 6 weeks to 3.8 years at 11 locations across Oakville.
The Team Leader, Inclusionary Support will provide hands on practical coaching, program support, tools and resources to guide educators in ensuring all children with complex needs are integrated fully into our child care programs. The Team leader, Inclusionary Support will also work collaboratively with the Summer Kindergarten Program to ensure that children with identified and unidentified needs are effectively integrated into the summer camp setting and have a positive and rewarding experience. The Team leader, Inclusionary Support will play a key role in ensuring that YMCA child care and summer kinder programs celebrate the uniqueness of each child and allow children to fully participate in character-building, values-based programming.

Location: YMCA of Oakville Child Care Centers
Schedule of Work: Monday to Friday, 42.5 hours per week
Responsibilities
- Works in program with center program teams to develop and implement a wide range of developmentally appropriate activities
- Attends meetings with YMCA educators and Halton Region resource consultants where required
- Conducts regular site support visits and prepares summary of site visits to include strategies, supports and resources
- Works in the kinder programs and supporting kinder staff with implementing strategies to ensure successful daily transitions and programming for children who need additional support
- Ensures effective communication with families by answering inquires or concerns in a timely manner
- Ensures ongoing communication with enhanced support staff
- Develops positive, supportive, and collaborative working relationships with child care educators, centre support staff and kinder program educators
- Provides ongoing feedback, coaching and mentoring to child care educators and enhanced support educators
- Consistently role models behaviour that aligns with our YMCA core values
- Anticipates, quickly assesses, and effectively assists the department in resolving conflict and responding to challenges
Requirements
- College Diploma or Degree in a related field (i.e., special education, child and youth, social work, resource consulting)
- Minimum 1 year of experience working with children and families
- Strong knowledge and experience dealing with children and their families who have developmental delays, complex needs with a focus on family-centered practices
- Excellent knowledge of relevant acts, legislations, and frame works, including but not limited to: Child and Family Services Act, Child Care and Early Years Act and How Does Learning Happen?
- Strong facilitation skills
- Strong collaboration and team skills
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Strong conflict resolution and problem-solving skills
- Knowledge of child development ages 6 weeks to 17 years
- Ability to influence without authority
- Effective time management skills
- Valid Ontario’s driver’s license
- Valid Standard First Aid with CPR C
- Immunization Record
- Criminal Reference Check with Vulnerable Sector Screening
Desirable requirements
- Understanding of YMCA Playing to Learn and “A Place to Connect” curriculums and other YMCA frameworks (i.e., YMCA Healthy Child Development)
- Working knowledge of Microsoft word, Microsoft excel and power point
- Prior experience working in summer camp
