Position Summary
Technical Support Specialist – Digital Health Your goal in this position is to provide excellent support, management, and troubleshooting of network hardware and infrastructure. You will promote and facilitate the effective, efficient, secure and safe use of digital end points and communication networks under the direction of the Manager, Information Services, and in a close and collaborative relationship with the staff of user departments. You will work co-operatively with peers to ensure that departmental systems are compatible with hospital Information Systems.
This position supports the Hospital’s academic mandate by advancing care through teaching and learning and/or transforming care through research and innovation. This position contributes to the shared responsibility of ensuring health and safety policies are followed to provide for a healthy environment for staff,
physicians, volunteers, learners, patients and families
On a practical level, you will
- Investigate and resolve network related help desk tickets in a timely, efficient and professional manner
- Assist with the troubleshooting, configuration and resolution of wired and wireless network connectivity for PCs and end point devices
- Install, upgrade, configure and manage network switches, wireless access points and routers within the environment
- Install, configure and support VoIP phones to support new deployments, moves and break-fix activities
- Install, configure, manage and monitor UPSes across all sites
- Work closely with external cabling vendors to patch new network connections in the communication closets
- Consult, train and assist staff within Digital Health on the setup and troubleshooting of network related issues
- Make recommendations to the Manager regarding the use of network technology
- Share on–call responsibility within the network team
Qualifications
- BSc in Computer Networking, Engineering or equivalent
- Minimum 3 years’ experience installing, supporting and maintaining enterprise wireless and wired communications networks
- Minimum 3 years troubleshooting and resolving mission-critical network service issues unguided or in conjunction with vendor support
- Recent experience with Extreme Networks wired networks is preferred
- Experience with Aruba wireless network technology preferred
- Comprehensive understanding and real-world experience with using Microsoft tools to image computers
- Comprehensive understanding of Microsoft InTune as it is used to manage enterprise computers
- Comprehensive understanding of PC technology, including microcomputers, laser and label printers, multifunction printers,
- ITIL Foundation Certified, an asset
- Proficiency in installation, maintenance and support of network hardware and software
- Good problem-solving, written and verbal communication skills
- Positive written and verbal communication skills
- Demonstrated interpersonal skills and the ability to maintain effective working relationships with others
- Ability to work unsupervised or in a team, in a fast-paced environment
- Bilingualism in French/English an asset
